general relativity is not wrong in that the observable effect of the sun "bending" light around ti was observed in an eclipse. (ie a star is seen to move position when the sun is lose to line of sight then when not)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_lens

in effect this is very similar to how you prove the earth is round, as in something drops below the horizon etc. As the star shifts position we know the sun's presence has caused it by the exact predicted amount in relativity ergo the space the light moved through is warped...

    and so on..

the fact that you can actually see a picutre of the effect is like looking on a window to the secrets of the universe.

If I wasn't 41 already I would definitely get into astrophysics on the open university. You need a whole lifetime to make headway in that field.

A handy link for anyone wanting to look at MIT open course wear, been going in here lo lot over the past 2 years when the mood takes. Video lectures the lot, fantastic resource

    Maybe.

But from memory the Higgs boson and Higgs field are to do with mass generation. So they are linked to gravity only in that mass is required to have a gravitational effect.

I still fail to see how they (Higgs boson / Higgs field) address the propagation method of gravity itself? Feel free to jump in with an explanation, as I know you've read significantly more than me in this area. <ok>

To add to that Einstein's field equations decouple mass from gravity<whistle>

That is a bit of a problem for the Higgs Bosons. <whistle> Another contradiction in physics?

Just FYI, Einstein's field equations are not meant to decouple mass and gravity, it is a result of the equation that was not intended. They create a universe with no mass and at the same time mass. wtf is that about?

Einstein even contradicts his own principle of equivalence to boot.

What's the difference between a nerd and a geek?

Sucker <laugh> Got you to bite at last.

It is actually a problem for anything derived from Einstein's field equations. I could be wrong but particle physics doesn't require the application of Einsteins's field equations in terms of Higgs Bosons work does it?
