I am sitting here, just finished a good curry, and watching the Dammed United, which I find a very interesting and entertaining football film. I know some can be awful, but good ones can be fantastic.

Just wondered, what are your favourite football films that are worth a watch?

Mike Bassett England Manager is the single funniest film of all time and very relevant right now.

Escape to Victory is a classic albeit some dire acting from Pele & co.

Whatever you do, don't watch the TV series spin-off which was dreadful.

The whole Mike Bassett film is on youtube, if you can handle the low resolution....an all time classic for sure!

    The Four Year Plan?

I always liked Gregory's Girl, but that had something to do with Claire Grogan. I'd have given her a Happy Birthday whilst she was looking up at the Pinky Blue Sky, I can tell you!

Love it - Benson and Hedges make the England squad.... What about Lambert and Butler?
    Football Factory is good.
    green Street - ok

4 year plan - cringeworthy at times, but a good doco nonetheless. Would have preferred it to be about another "well run" club

Mrs Badger quite happily sat through the Four Year Plan thanks to all the sackings, swearing and larger than life characters - for at least the first two thirds it's more like a soap than a football film. Great watch though and at least it has a happy ending! I think all the half decent football films have already been listed!

Sporting films are often hard to get right...Fire in Babylon - the documentary about the 70s/80s West Indies cricket team is just brilliant though, I wish I was old enough to have seen that team play!

The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty (Wim Wenders)

A goalkeeper Josef Bloch is ejected during a game for foul play. He leaves the field and goes to spend the night with a cinema cashier. (101 mins.)
