Have always considered Ads was a gobby little ****e but always grateful that he was our gobby little ****e
Quite likely he is good at some things like talent evaluation and running a scouting operation but horrible at dealing with players or just generally an unlikable (if possessing certain skills) guy. That post squares with a lot of what has been happening. Wasn't there some talk that Liverpool was initially inquiring about Lallana and it was us that made Lambert available? If so, I find that reassuring. It means the club is still calling the shots, and that in Lambert's case they (admirably) were doing the right thing for a player that deserved it. It sends a message to the players that if you are a class act on and off the pitch and serve loyally, you will get your dream move and many thanks when the time comes. Act like Lallana, OTOH... As for the rest, it appears some mistakes were made but the board seems to realize it and it seems easily fixable. A simple apology and a meeting with Fonte and Cork might suffice. Perhaps the board is already attempting to make amends.
When players like Rooney start itching for a move, they are told no and a new contract is signed. Hopefully this can progress like that and rather than an Eterna watch, he can get that tatoo.
My thinking now tbh, if he don't wanna be here then get rid of him. If all this is true then I've just lost a ton of respect for him. Just as long as the board are happy with the fee.
Come on guys, 3 weeks ago he was Mr Southampton, suddenly he persona non grata. Isn't the truth somewhere in between. In my view the club has been poorly managed for 5 months, Adam is coming to the peak of his career, from where he's viewing things his wishes are perfectly understandable. That Saints now want top dollar for him is also reasonable. A compromise will be reached.
Maybe it's just that Reed worked in his role alongside/under Cortese but doesn't suit the new setup? Thoughts: - I've never been as big a Lallana fan as most on here so this stuff about him doesn't really bother me. If most of that is true it's difficult to imagine he will stay at the club but never say never I guess - The idea that Katharina may not be impressed with things at the moment is quite reassuring. Hopefully the current guys on the board learn fast or get added to/replaced - Hopefully that transfer budget is accurate - Hopefully the board can find a tame journalist or two to stem the tide of bad PR I get the general vibe that - particularly when it comes to media coverage - Katharina and Krueger have been confronted with a situation they weren't prepared for at all. Let's hope they learn fast.
Some you win, some you lose when you go against players that want to leave. Suarez and Rooney have had great seasons after wanting to go, so we can take positives from that. If the new manager can sway him to want to stay, then it sends out a message to everyone and thet will fall in line. If not... well Poch left last week and so far I haven't keeled over and we are still in the PL when it starts. Will take that over the summer of 2009.
I thought the Apple reference was odd, as why we be impressed with somebody from from Apple get a job at SMS. They might be good but it will take them time to acclimatise to a completely different industry. And to the the person who said that selling is selling. As some one who is in sales - no it isn't.
He has ambitions and he's not fulfilling them here. I have no problem with the way he's acting and I'll have no ill feeling towards him if he leaves. I won't exactly look out for him with pride like I will Rickie, I'll have very little feeling towards him either way. He doesn't owe us anything, even if you might expect more from someone who grew up here. He played a huge part in getting us here, so many thanks for that.
I guess it kind of shows thst running a football club is completely different to the skills required to run a business in any other industry. Its a bigger beast than she probably thought. If true, its good that she is trying to address perceived inefficiencies in the board. It means she wants to stay and hasn't been put off by it all.
Selling yourself short there (excuse the pun). If you can sell ice to the Eskimos, you can sell anything else to anyone else. The skills are the same.
A suggestion from SaintsWeb here, where he refers to the meetings involving two people... is it possible Rogers is being cut out? I've heard next to nothing from him since his appointment and he doesn't seem to be very in the public eye. I appreciate that he's the CEO and they handle day-to-day running but they promoted him from Financial Officer and people wondered about his qualifications then. Maybe Ralph and Les have cut him out of the loop and he'll be replaced?
Maybe Lallana is a lost cause while Shaw is more or a 50/50. Lallana is my favourite player. Loved watching him the last few years. Loved hearing him say he'd snap your hand off if you said he play here for the rest of his career. Seems like empty words and me being a stupid romantic am starting to dislike him now. Silly because it's all chinese whispers but if there's more truth than falsehood about all the whispers then I just want him gone.
