I have gone for Coyle, his experience in beating better teams should stand him in good stead for the CL
Tempted to agree. The main problem is that none of the other names exactly sets the heather on fire and any manager coming into Celtic is going to have to get used to an expectation of winning everything, progressing in Europe and doing it all with **** all money. No-one we get will be as good as Lennon.
We aren't going to get a big name manager. It will be Owen Coyle so I wish the board would stop pissing about.
Just go for wee Jackie... pay him a boatil of ginger n three packs of fitba stickers... If Celtic aren't going for an experienced name then rather see McNamara
None of the candidates are very exciting. Still hoping for someone out of left field. Thanks for saying no Roy.
The absolutely only possible reason Keane could be considered is his Irish /Celtic Family connection to the club which is a pile of ****e and rarely serves us well - I am getting heartily sick of this neil lennon - did well in difficult circumstances but really should have dominated more domestically tony mowbray - unmitigated disaster, and I dont know anyone who thought it would turn out otherwise when he was offered the job. Welcome back to the celtic family tony, as peter lawwell put it. gordon strachan - a success I would say. martin o`neill - a success but we couldve had guus hidink instead, pretty sure he wouldve been more succssful - but he`s not irish. kenny dalglish - not a success, but a fairly short period in charge. john barnes - ****ing disaster, blame kenny dalglish ( barnes only got the job due to kennys connection to the club ) tommy burns - success for style of football, but not for trophies - probably had the toughest opposition of the lot. lou macari - the less said the better liam brady - possibly worse than lou macari wim jansen - success I would say jo venglos - not sure about that one, thought the football was good but certainly the cabinet was bare. billy mcneill - both success and failure over two terms david hay - I tend to think of as successful jock stein - did no bad I suppose Lets stop there. celtic connection before the job - lennon, mowbray, oneill, dalglish, barnes ( because of dalglish),burns, macari, brady, mcneil, hay, stein no connection before the job - strachan , jansen , venglos In terms of percentage of success/failure the ratio is much better when we ditch the celtic/irish connection.
I know this is tongue in cheek but I don't agree that a mercenary is the answer A Celtic man could potentially see out 10iar Anyone else would leave at the first better offer
