I want too surprised with Livermore as I think, while it was always clear that he was good enough, he needed to go to a club in the lower reaches of the Premier League. As with Huddlestone, I was more surprised with the amount you paid. He's clearly a gifted footballer and always has been. But I just couldn't see a newly promoted side forking that much out of a defensive midfielder. Both were good signings and they've proved that over the season. I think that Barry would fit in perfectly here. We're desperate for a defensive minded midfielder and he would suit the bill. A midfield trio of Barry, Drinkwater and James excites me. I think they would compliment each other superbly and Barry would only further the development of Drinky and James. However I think more pressing concerns arise in the left back, centre back and target man slots. Cresswell, Kalas on loan and Finnbogasson would be ideal. All in all I'd love to see us setting up with; Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Kalas Cresswell Barry Drinkwater James Mahrez---------------Albrigton Finnbogasson
I can't see Barry signing for Leicester, when he can have 2 years with us. Only money could swing it your way imo.
Daily Mirror saying we're after Livermore and Dawson in a £10 million package, can't see that happening. Livermore's been quoted at £8million and Dawson at £5-6 million. It'd be a nice defensive line up to go with Davis and Chester but can't see it happening at that price.
... and if the length of contract, financial package etc are broadly equal I'd have to agree ... he's had a great season there and his family. presumably, are located in the North West already? ... our trump card (if we have one) might be the length of contract that we'd be prepared to offer him to come ...
That is a hell of a lot. I'd value Livermore at about 5 and Dawson at maybe 2. I think that Sours are having you on.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Strange that the media haven't really given it much thought but I suppose that it's not really news that they'd be interested. As Fosse has said, we could only really hold a trump card with a contract length but is it wise to give him a long done with what is likely to be a hefty wage. If only there were a similar player going that we'd be able to get hold of. He really would be ideal.
Levy is a wiley negotiator, he always gets top money for outgoing players, we'll have to see what Brucie values them at.
Honestly guys, whilst i think he would be a good signing for most clubs, just fibnd it a bit hypocrytical that some of your posters will slate us because the Sun mentions Johnson or Williams, yet its fine for you to sign this guy? I'm trying to remember if he's ever moved clubs purely for money before...... A good player and on a free, but his wages may be over the 40k mark that your posters were slating us about? #justsaying
Queenie having 1 overpaid player is fine but having a squad full of them You do the maths Plus Gareth Barry is a top pro and a very good player. Joey Barton is a top ****er and massively over rated. Difference
Proud, what has barton got to do with anything? Think you should maybe have a look at your posters input into some of our threads before replying with nonsense like this. I was referring to ravel's alledged 3mill buy post amongst others. No point slating Barton to me mate, ive always openly said i hate the bloke ! So we're talking barry, upson TBC...... He's a top pro that moved for the money mate..thats the fatcs, so if you want to dish it out then you have to take it ! Simples
Interesting quote on Twitter from a supposed Man City ITK :- @stubrennanmen I would expect Gaz Baz to Leicester along with Joleon. Supposedly this guy has called Man City transfers previously (bit like Bert of old for us). Will believe this when I see Barry and Lescott with a fox on their shirt on the official web site. Would certainly provide more strength to the spine of the team.
Completely different situations Queenie. You already have a team full of overpaid prima donnas, with enough "experience". We, on the other hand, have a relatively young squad, who need some older heads to guide them, and a model professional like Barry would be perfect for us.
I only said that Williams would move to you because you'd pay him a good amount. He's the Wales captain playing for him home town club under his best friend of a manager. It's clear that you'll have to pay a hefty amount to acquire his services. Morrison is a player that was dropped for games towards the back end of last season so it baffles me why you'd go and pay 4m and 40k a week for someone that isn't going to improve your side. Not to mention that he's always been a trouble maker. Barry is a free agent and as he's shown over his career he has a terrific attitude to the game.
Doesn't seem to me that you've ever really replaced the Koren role which is quite important in a 5-3-2.
