As I said above(edited as I didn't want to go off topic) if it helps to even carm some fans a bit it has worked. Yes if they go against it they deserve to be criticised. But that's give them the benefit of the doubt until that happens.
i'll speculate about their motives all I like as long as they conduct their business through adam blackmore's twitter.
Let's just see who they bring in, the last 3 haven't been that bad! I think it will be someone with the right experience to take us to the next level. Someone who has full control from youth to 1st team. No other player will go before the appointment.
that's the (nearly)commitment that they will be judged on from this statement. If koeman's appointment is al but done, they are in a fantastic position to make that commitment anyway.
It is a positive statement, I certainly agree Beefy, and I really do hope the board can stick to this. We need some good news.
I agree that it's a positive statement. Depending on timescales, no more transfers will take place until after the new manager is appointed, which means that Adam's move to Liverpool is off the table. Doesn't mean he won't move somewhere else, but it gives the club breathing space to let the new guy say who he wants to stay and who can go if we get the right offer.
The board have confirmed what we all knew.. clubs have been making offers and again they have said thetly wont sell unless it is under our terms. They have agreed the sale of Rickie but a lot of fans were saying he would probably be a bench player next season and would have played second fiddle to Osvlado if he wasnt such a dick. That aside no other player has gone. LFC have tried to push the Lallana transfer through but haven't been successful, it looks like they may go away. The bard keep sayi g they wont sell and so far they have been true to their word and standing up to the big clubs. Good on them.
Bit harsh TSS - I think this statement certainly needs and deserves it's own thread. It's an important development.
It's all they really can say, though. Because if Liverpool ups their offer to 30-35 million then in fact it might be a good idea to sell him given how unhappy he is here and considering that's a really good price. Or maybe we get Koeman and he's pretty sure he can raid Feyenoord for their CB's for cheap and Liverpool is paying silly prices for Lovren then it might in fact be smart business to say, sell Lovren for 20m and replace him with two good, young CB's at 10m each. If it's not reassuring to you, it's mainly because the situation as a whole is messed up. All the board can say is that they won't sell players cheap, and not before the new manager comes in, and show that they can dictate terms. And in their statements they are trying to do just that. And tbf, in the last couple of days they've backed it up with their actions.
I actually do find this statement reassuring. I'm still reeling from the loss of Rickie, but it doesn't take a huge leap of faith to accept that it is in the best interests of both player and club for an exception to be made. Now let's hope we can continue to bat away the other multiple offers. Of course we'll lose wickets, but let's make sure they fall at great cost to the opposition. Fully deserving of it's own thread btw.
Problem is when you have 2 threads discussing the same event it gets very messy. As TSS said, he has let this one go and just requested that folk follow the usual thing.
I know it's a typo, but I love the idea of Kreuger as The Bard....not quite the same as The Don but quite apt. Unlike some I am reassured. There is a big difference between selling players because we have to and selling players when we don't have to but it suits us. A new manager in with the right funds.....this could be the start of the next phase of progress (hopefully).
Sure, but in this instance the statement is on pg 47 on the Lambert thread (which people may not struggle to), hasn't really sparked discussion on that thread, and is an important new development. Now I get what you're saying, but I'd suggest that those aspects all contribute to "this deserves a new thread", rather than "I'll let this one go, you naughty people".
This isn't discussing the same thing, it's discussing the statement, the Lambert thread is discussing Lambert, why did it need to be closed?
