Good signing. A striker who can pass, move and shuffle. Could be a nifty false forward between Sturridge and Sterling if Suarez is ever absent, and a good impact sub.

Good player or average remains to be seen but the commitment he'll show on the pitch will be unquestionable.

From those comments he sounds like he's one of us doing and sting the things we'd say if we ever signed for LFC. I'm not expecting him to be a world beater but I hope he can contribute and help us win silverware to make his dream even better

I see this signing as a striker Gary Mac signing. Hopefully, we can land Lallana, too, as those two have always linked up well. <ok>

    This^
He's no "marquee" signing (I'm beginning to hate that phrase), but he will add depth to the squad for a couple of years for a relatively small outlay and has the right attitude.
Still not convinced about the need for Lallana, at the price.

Absolutely gutted. But this was the only place he might have gone. You've got the bargain of next season already.

    Hope he plays at SMS.

He's far more than a 'big target man' He has good touch, good vision and finishes well. Better to see him coming off the bench than Aspas or Moses.
He must be pinching himself that this has come about, and as stated above, his commitment will be total.

He reminds me of Crouchie, whom I didn't want us to get rid of. Lambert is similarly tarred with the 'big-bloke-up-front' brush, therefore, his technique and control is inevitably underestimated and overlooked.

Does anyone actually see him as a big man up front? Seems pretty much everyone knows he is actually a really intelligent, ball playing striker.

Wonder what number he will wear?

Should get 9. Aspas certainly doesn't deserve it and think he will be gone this season probably on loan

Have to say I'm glad that we have actually signed someone without drawn out negotiations really hate when it drags on for weeks. Good to see ayre has coped on and just went in and got the deal done. Ricky for the winner against united in front of the kop.

Just reading through the posts on saints board and they are all positive in wishing him well and saying we have a very good player for little money. No ill feeling at all. Think this is a transfer that, as football fans, we can all appreciate how much it means to him and what it would mean to any of us in the same situation

Winner against anybody in front of the kop will do for me.

we have a very good player and for little money.

when you think our options from the bench was Moses and Aspas, we really cant get any worst than that can we?

i thought personally brendan said we would only get options that will improve the first team, while lambert obviously improves the options from the bench that's squad not first team.

just hope our other targets are to improve on first team not bench.
