    That letter has made me far too emotional for a monday morning - just wow. That really means a lot.

    I think the statement is pretty fair too - obviously we'll have to wait and see what happens with other transfers but could we really stand in rickie's way? no chance...

    Loved Rickie's letter...it was what I expected from the guy. I shall now enjoy watching him at the World Cup...he has revitalised my interest. He is forever a Saint. This was a deal we couldn't stand in the way of....in fact it would have been spiteful to, especially as he would become less involved over the next couple of years. Good luck, Rickie. I love you<smooch>

    Also like the club's letter, especially clarifying that we don't need to sell and want to wait for the new manager. We will probably still lose some players, but on our terms. With the usual irrationality and resilience of a football fan, I am now much calmer (at least until some other disaster arrives within 24 hours :)).

    Not sure that's a given. Not standing in the way of Rickie is one thing. Standing in the way of Lallana, Lovren etc... is quite another. These are players who are either rising to their peak or thereabouts. We need them to progress and they are on long contracts. They leave for enormous money or they simply don't go. At this point I would suggest your probable is a possible.
