Tony Barrett has said the following: We've reached an impasse re. Lallana. Soton want £30m. Looks like we'll be turning our attention to Shaqiri. Also, we've been made aware of Fabregas's availability. Rodgers is a fan but he prefers Sanchez if he's available. We have yet to reach a deal for Moreno - we're offering £16m but Sevilla want £18m. ---- My brain cannot comprehend the possibility of having Sanchez and Shaqiri added to our attack!!
Sanchez and Shaqiri would be awesome although I suspect one would be a loan despite the Brod saying otherwise. Also, how much competition would there be in the attacking part of the team On a slight down side, we still seem to be saying "**** defending"
Can't think we'll get both of them. Sanchez would be the more established one and Shaq would be riskier but cheaper in transfer fee and wages and is also younger. Both would definitely add to our attacking line up. If I had a choice, I'd go for Shaq. Sanchez is known to be a bit of a diver as well.
It's all about versatility - now that the likes of Moses and Assaidi will be gone, we don't have many players who can play on the wing. Shaqiri and Sanchez can both do that, and play centrally. I think we should be in for both - Shariqi definitely because he will be a Coutinho/Sturridge type signing. Bags of potential, not given a chance and will come cheaply (relatively speaking). Sanchez could be that signing that makes the statement and will keep Suarez happy.
Is there much competition? Suarez and Sturridge are nailed on starters with Sterling and Coutinho rotating. Beyond that, we don't have many players that can really come into the front 3 in case of injuries. Borini and Suso are raw but they can be used in league cup games .
I think Suarez is a nailed on starter but Studge wasn't 100% guarateed last seaosn so why would he be with more arrivals? For the front three positions, we'd have Suarez, Studge, Sterling, Coutinho, Sanchez and Shaqiri. Are you seriously telling me we wouldn't have options...?
If we got both of them, would prob cost us in region of £40m (£25m for Sanchez, £15m for Shaq). Add the £4m for Lambert and that'd be £44m on attack. If we then get Moreno for £16m that's £60m spend already with a CB and a CM still required. Let's say we get rid of Borini (£10m) Lucas (£6m) Agger (£8m) Reina (£4m) Assman (£5m) that gives us £33m and frees up a bit of wages I guess for a new CM & CB. Could be done, but I highly doubt we'll get 2 more attacking options with Lambert signing already secured.
I think he mean competition in a good way though, not a negative. Having 5 quality options in Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Sanchez & Shaq would be very good competition for 3 main places with CL football. By the way, we get them all we'll have the SASASASAS
Ahhh my bad Gez. In which case, I agree. 5 top class players for the front 3 positions, Coutinho can play in attack or drop deeper (where I think he;s best.
Haha, imagine if we swap Assaidi and Moses for Sanchez and Shaqiri. Front three from Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Shaqiri and Sanchez. With Coutinho in the midfield...I imagine we'd bag quite a few goals
Be interesting to see if Rodgers drops him for the big away games now that he's got genuine wing options to play a 4-3-3.
Look how many ninety minutes he completed, he's not a guarantee first choice eleven despite starting most games, that was due to a lack of options.
Swansea are set to ign Luc Castaignos. Young player we were linked with a few times. Be interesting to see how he does at Swansea, always had a good reputation.
True, there was a lack of options - but he certainly deserved to be in the first team last season. But I do admit, that you are right in that with the additions of Shaqiri and Sanchez, he may not be a starter. But Sturridge does seem like the type who wants to compete and is up for the fight
