I' ve never rated De Guzman , and hes Canadian . I must be wrong though , there he is in the stsrting lineup for Holland. Tough team to dislodge players from their positions .
Just a reminder - this player you "don't rate" is starting for Holland and you don't get into that team if you're no good so you're right on that. Secondly, this player you "don't rate" scored 8 from midfield last season and was one of our top scorers. Jeez, the stuff people spout here.
from what I saw de guzman didnt have his best game was pretty anonymous. A good few passes, he has good control but you can see he is not used to playing in that side
I really dont understand why our fans want rid of players that have contributed to our team, and whether anyone likes it or not De Guzman has contributed significantly. In case it's passed you by apart from Bony we were more than a bit thin on goalscorers last season with OGs being second top followed by JDG. And you want rid? He's improved his defensive game lately so is clearly responding to his coaches - always a good thing in any player imo. I'd be interested to see who would be on your list to replace him. It would have to be someone capable of delivering decent crosses and free kicks at this level too. I just think some of our fans take against certain players (Scotland anyone?) and there's no winning them over.
Thats because some of our fans are dull as fook Dragon ! most teams look for goals from midfield but our fans seem to think that 8 goals and as many assists is nothing special in the premier league . Contrast with Sigurdson who had a similar tally in goals and also in work rate and it gets even more strange why some dont fancy jonno. We were prepared to spend 8m on siggy but a player that has done just as well over 2 seasons needs to be shipped out apparently, madness. I'd go with that, Ghana are a formiddable outfit and rightly favourites to lift the World Cup. I just hope Ghana go easy as it's a friendly or it could be embarrassing for the Dutch.
The version of JDG that played under Monk I'd keep, however if he reverts back to how he played prior I'd get rid of him.
I find JDG a strange one. He has had some superb games for us and then he has been totally **** in some. There seems to be no in between with him. He takes a superb dead ball, but he does frustrate me as I think he slows our play down to much. For saying all that would I want him back next years. ****ing right I would.
We are at our best when we're one or two touch passing, whilst JdG invariably takes three or four touches and kills our momentum. He does have a good eye for goal however, there is no denying that, and he can cross a ball well from open play. His dead balls however are atrocious. Yes, he's scored two free kicks for us in two seasons, but how many more scoring opportunities has he wasted due to his inability to place the ball into the correct area? Monk has clearly stepped in and removed him from corner taking duty, a move that Laudrup should have made months before but was too apathetic to be bothered to do. I would like us to sign him, but only for the right price. Any more than £4-6mill and I think we could buy better.
De Guzman has to much of spread betwwen a good day and bad day. Much of his goal and assisst stats come from penalties , free kicks and corners ( I think ) .Nothing against him and will always support him but if I was manager I might pass him over without bid ... we'll see how much he plays in the World Cup and how he does.. just an opinion .
A Norway has pointed out previously, if these players were perfect they wouldn't be playing for Swansea, they'd be playing CL next season.
Yes but we must have top quality below 5m that scores an endless amount of world class goals tackles like roy keane and runs around like joa allen on speed! otherwise plainly not good enough for Swansea city football club . The best thing to say about two of our most controversial players JDG and Pablo is that both Laudrup and Monk see them as first choice picks, and as players integral to how we play .
Exactly! and not my cup of tea thank you, not enough work in him for my liking, and disappears in games when he cannot be bothered, he won't do much for Holland, just watch this space, you heard it here first.............
