I'm disappointed that he's leaving, but can take solace in the fact that he's going to liverpool rather than west ham

This. He was trying not to talk about it, but was being polite (as ever). The question about players joining him was too much even for him, so he walked away .

Thinking about this more, I think a special case could be made for selling Lambert. He had already had one move blocked and he now had the chance for a financially attractive move to the team close to his heart. He has been a fantastic servant to this club....both player and Saints benefitted by the association. Liverpool wanted both Adam and Rickie's deals sorted before the WC, so the club let Rickie's go through because it was certain to go through eventually (unless Liverpool changed their mind and then where would Rickie's head be?). Lallana was different...we don't want him to go, so Liverpool's threats were meaningless and we need an intact squad to attract the best manager. Adam may still go to someone, but then the decision can be seen to be the new manager's and will go hand in hand with new players coming in.

You may be right Fran. The more I think about it, the more we must say no to Liverpool on Lallana.

A very honest and humble man

It obviously helps he is a great footballer, but the fact he is such a great bloke makes him one of my all time favourite footballers and on par with MLT

He will play a smaller role for Liverpool... But really It's a good deal for both Saints and SRL. He leaves Saints on a real high with out ever being a bench warmer. 9 mil for a 31 year old is a lot to pay... Especially as he will only be third choice striker.

    Its £4m

Btw guys, who do you think would compliment Lambert well in the Liverpool squad more, playing next to Suarez or Sturridge or by himself upfront instead?

    Lambert isn't a lone striker.

Don't forget the add-ons. We've been promised you'll return the wheels to our team coach if he scores double figures.

Unfortunately, the best player to compliment Lambert is Lallana...but that pairing will only happen in an England shirt from now on :)

So you reckon Coutinho just behind Lambert would suit him best? As he is most similar to Lallana?

Yep, I think so. In actual fact, you don't need Lallana with Coutinho ;)
