I see the gloom is getting to a few of you, but i can understand why. The only news lately is ****, and **** news followed by more just **** news tends to make us grasp at anything to stop it being all so awful. You can tell looking at the threads since our manager decided to up and off to spurs. At first there was lots of big name replacements being mentioned. And now we all seem to be happy with...Moyes. I still cling to the little hope that our club are just joking us about, and will spring a massive big name manager on us. To make us feel even more happy and suprised when Burley, and Pardew (sort of) were announced. So for me it's still Benitez or Koeman. Those are big names. Koeman especially just because he was a superstar on the pitch. He would certainly continue the style of football we like, and not forgetting, the style of football we play. Moyes would get us into the bottom half this coming season, he hasn't a clue how to play a team the way we have done since Pardew. And even less so now. It would take him a season to get the players playing the boring defensive but effective game that he only knows. I really don't want him here.
I think it's slightly disingenuous to not call David Moyes a big name manager. He has been a top half premier league manager for the last 10 years. No one available right now is more experienced to take on the Southampton job. I do agree for your reasons against him and I think they are the reasons he will not get the job, but I would not be upset if he got the job.
I feel like this. I think he would steady us and has a point to prove. I just don't want him, when there are others who could bring us more excitement. If it was Moues I'd just be thankful the wait is over.
As far as we know Koeman hasn't been approached...at least according to his agent a few days ago. The only one seen here is Moyes. Betting of course in part reflects betting patterns rather than facts....until they panic and rapidly drop prices, then stop taking bets.
On all 3 forum sites I look at, "bed-wetters" are venting their spleen at other B-W's. Also they have said "message for the Board/Kreuger/owner etc". I have e-mailed Saints customer services and asked for my points to be forwarded to Kreuger and/or Reed. If they press delete, at least I have done something more positive than f*rting about on a forum with 25 posters constantly to-ing and fro-ing! 500+ e-mails politely asking questions or stating whatever concerns, WOULD be significant.
Good on you for contacting them directly. However, you do realise that you may generate another speech from Ralph....I may never forgive you.
Well the only plus I can see at the moment with Moyes is that with Adam being an Everton fan, he might be able to convince him to stay.
Perhaps the foreign ones are just taking longer to get here I want a marquee manager...so we look impressive and everyone knows we are still in the game, which is daft I know as what we really want is the right man.
Bravo old chap! Well done you. Glad you know what action I have taken; you must be a clairvoyant. A sanctimonious one at that. If you really wanted to do something, emailing customer services isn't the best you could do... get yourself on the phone and ask for an appointment. Write to the Chairman/Less Reed/KL, but all customer serviceswill do is get you a nice polite reply, if you're lucky, saying the club are doing things to their best.
The challenge for Brit managers is that coming to SMS they aren't really a true manager, they are the first team manager/coach. Most are used to full control of the footballing side of the business Les Reed looms large over every football so the likes of Moyes, McLaren etc would most likely not want to work under such a structure whereas foreign manager/coaches are more used to this way of working
Not that I advocate appointing him, but Moyes' style of play comes in for some unwarranted criticism. He tried to play attacking football when he started at United, and only when it was clear things were going tits up did he revert to the stodgy, less adventurous style. If he were to become our manager, I see no reason that he wouldn't play to our strengths.
According to someone on echo forum.........Positive note for a Sunday morning. Dutch press are reporting Ronald Koeman is now 1 of 2 men on SFC's managerial shortlist... and the club want to make the appointment early next week.
How do we know Moyes has been spotted,or is it just speculation, as much as I think it's the safest option and not very exciting, he would keep us in the premiership. I don't ever remember Everton fans moaning about their style of play back then, and let's face it it's a results business and if we win most of our games 1-0 and get into Europe will we all moan then? I certainly would like other/s on the list, but for me for stability he would be in my top 5,and it's alright wanting BIGGER names in the game but do they cost more money?
I know hee-haw about Koeman and reading about him won't change that. What I do know is that criticism of Moyes for being boring is way wide of the mark and must surely be based on his poor showing at United. I bet we couldn't get another manager who has won as many games in the PL either. Benitez on the other hand, that must be the dictionary definition of boring.
