Agree Darth. I just wish somebody would build a time machine so I can go back to 2007 and tell Calzaghe to fight Froch and shut him up for good.
Calzaghe would have beaten him definitely, but you've got to respect what he's achieved....I couldn't believe what I was hearing in the media before this fight "Froch doesn't really want this fight he's being forced into it etc." Froch has never ducked anyone...and he's never fought on the back foot either. He'll stand toe to toe with anyone. How did people forget that? Like Groves a lot though, I believe he can still be a World Champion.
I actually like Froch - he had a fight plan and executed it well and it was one heck of a good right hand!
Froch didnt want a rematch Groves had to go to the IBF who ruled that the first fight had been stopped prematurely.
It was a close encounter and the only difference was that froch has a solid chin that could take a punch and grooves is a little bit fragile...Both fighters are good and both are winners for putting on a good display of boxing on the night...
.....sorry, I didn't word that last post right. My feeling was that it was being made out that he feared this fight. Surely having been in with Kessler, Bute, Ward, Dirrell, Abraham, and Taylor....and never had a good going over by anyone (for me Andre Ward out boxed him but didn't hurt him) the only reason he didn't want the rematch was because he felt he could make more money fighting someone else or finish off with a fight or 2 in Vegas. I couldn't believe the amount of disrespect towards Froch in the lead up to this fight. Those who were making out in the media that he was running scared and would be retired by Groves must feel pretty silly now. Like him or hate him the bloke is a warrior and has earned (or should have at least) the respect of the boxing world.
For me anyone who steps into a ring deserves respect. A lot of the dislike people have for Froch is his own doing as he is an arrogant person. People talk about him being an all time great but for me he has been lucky, i.e. Direll won the fight against him but he got the home decision, he was then losing by a wide margin against a blown up super middleweight in Jermaine Taylor only to KO him with 10 secs of the fight remaining. He then lost to the top 2 in the division in Kessler and Ward. Good fighter who for me has overachieved.
