    Knew Gerrard was behind this. Without his input...neither the Liverpool board nor the fans would have even thought of this very strange move (for a top club, WHU I would understand).

    He's not that influential. Lambert and Gerrard know each other from England duty (if not before) so why wouldn't he discuss it with him? Not like Gerrard is ringing Rickie up whispering in his ear to try and tempt him away from us, he's been a lifelong Liverpool fan after all.

    I sure I read somewhere that when Rickie made his England debut Brendan Rodgers sent congratulations to him from the people of Liverpool ......maybe Liverpool had their feelers out then.

    I'm not blaming Gerrard...it's not a crime to talk to another player about a possible move. I just believe he was a factor in the move. I'd rather see Rickie at Liverpool than any other club (apart from us).
