Lambert to Liverpool seems a weird move. He's not going to get in ahead of Suarez or Sturridge but he's far too good to be someone's backup at his age. Seems like a career ruining move to me.
Aside from playing for the club he supported as a boy. Being near to where he calls 'home', Liverpool having to cover additional European games and injuries. I don't see why it's career ruining. A top team needs a decent pool of strikers for rotation purposes, and for £4m it's an absolute bargain. He offers a different dynamic to the Liverpool squad to their existing strikers. He may be 32, but I bet when he pulls on that shirt, the club he supports, he'll play like a 21 year old. Good move all round.
Jose Fonte, getting very strongly'linked with a move from Southampton to City. I dismissed it yesterrday but it was on the regional news tonight.
Not to mention he'll be more likely to stay on Woy's radar...Southampton may plummet next season. Good move for the lad.
I'm sure it's a good move for them, but I don't think it's the best idea for him, I just can't see him playing enough games to be noticed for an England squad in say, a year's time. In the PL players are forgotten about so quickly when they stop scoring loads of goals and I think it's going to happen to him.
I don't think he'll probably get as many games as he did at Southampton - but staying another season at Southampton could be even worse for him! Different manager, team will be hugely changed with almost the entire squad linked with other clubs. I certainly think there's more than enough games to share amongst them. Plus in that Liverpool team the amount of chances they create he'd score a sack load. Certain Man Utd players don't feature heavily for the first team, yet still get international games. I really don't think it's an issue, plus he'll be in a team more likely to challenge for honours in some way shape or form.
True but Lambert isn't a 'big name' and if he stops playing he'll be tossed aside by the nation the same way Carroll has been. Unfashionable strikers at unfashionable clubs have to keep playing and scoring or everyone forgets about them. I'd have thought he'd be better off at somewhere like Everton or Tottenham where he'd be the best striker.
Even then you wouldn't. He's a decent squad player at this level but nothing more. You'll be looking for better.
I think they'll be struggling at the foot of the table this coming season. With all the players they are likely to lose I think they'll struggle to field a cohesive enough team.
