Ideal time for Osvaldo to revive his Southampton career. Or his career in general. He didn't get along with other players, but so what? None of them will be there next season. Osvaldo will find some new people to argue with, fall out with them, eventualy smack someone in the face, and then leave the club in january transfer window.

Maybe the ploy is to sell everyone and replace us with ice hockey players?
Maybe he might know something about that.

 

I have started to calm down about all this. So, we lose Lallana, Luke and Lambert. Possibly we lose Schneiderlin too. I hope not Lovren, I really do, but let's just say he goes as well. That's not everyone. We still have some very good players.

Okay, there are gap - but it's still a better-than-average group of players. With 40M to spend, a good manager could create a strong squad out of it.

Yeah, and sell Osvaldo for 5 million or so to add to our kitty. A 20 a season striker and another solid CM would make our 11 a top 10 side. Our squad though - eek! Reed has looked really good so it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting quite a few starts. Lovren going may not be as bad as it seems as he didn't finish the season greatly.

 

If we lost them players it would be far more then 40m to spend.

 

I thought it would be safer to be pessimistic with the spending!

 

I left him out because he got a lot of stick at the end of the season. I think he's good back up if we can bring in a good striker. I should have put JRod in, but he's injured / rumoured for sale.

 

If we sold them players I reckon 70m+. 100% player sales.

 

There's really easy brownie points to be won in giving Fonte and Cork new deals. Board has done neither and still no signs of it.

Certainly not going to help morale. Are they waiting on new manager, or does this work differently to when you're selling the players...

 

I agree, but we don't know that nothing has been done. Mind you, it might have been an idea to get them signed up before the crap hit the fan...is it a formality that they would sign now.

 

Both José and Jack are willing to sign and are keen to, as far as I know.

Yep I heard Cork already been offered a contract. But obviously other **** has happened since.

 

Could be waiting for the new manager as said, but these players deserve a new contract. Any manager could use them. I know resigning a player is an expensive gesture, but it would make fans feel positive.

 

Cork should be a dead cert to give a new contract to. Fonte not so, unless we lose Lovren.

 

Fonte has done well...though I agree he is not one of our top players (though that is no insult as our standard is high), but if Jos is released (almost certain) and Maya (possibly) we could surely do with him even if we get in another CB.
