It was because his only goal he scored should have been Defoe's, the ball was going in, and as the ball was crossing the line he blasted it in, then claimed the goal. Defoe wasn't impressed.

Like I said, they nominated Scholes ffs. That just proves what a load of **** the show was.

But he wasn't chosen, it was all a bit tongue in cheek, but for the most part they got it about right, apart from Des Walker who I always rated as a good defender. They certainly gave Bentley some stick, remember him?

Nugent has one cap and one goal for England, I can't believe they picked him for England's worst team.

When they did the show the first time round back in 2012, they actually put him in the team.

    Unbelievable.

I'm not a huge football fan but I don't understand the appeal of the European Championships. There's already club championships in Europe and you look at the history of it and it really isn't great. The finals only had four teams competing in it for many years, then 8 and only recently has it been expanding. It seems more a money making exercise between World Cups that's just been hyped up in modern times. World Cups on the other hand are even known about by those with just a passing interest in the sport and don't have an equivalent in club football.

The Euros are usually much better than the World Cup - a higher percentage of the teams are of top quality.

Euro 2004 is still the best tournament (WC or Euros) I can remember.

Also, what the hell are you on about when you say "There's already club championships in Europe and you look at the history of it and it really isn't great"?

Agreed about the Euros usually being better.

2004 was class. The Czech Republic were fantastic to watch in that tournament.

Agreed. When we went out I wanted the Czechs to win, but those bastard Greeks...

Pavel Nedved is a seriously underrated player, sad he's been forgotten, he was class.

Czech Republic 3-2 Netherlands is one of the best games i've watched.

He was one of the greats in that tournament & of European Football at that time- Juve, Lazio etc. He made them tick.

Milan Baros had a belter and all.

Agreed with that match. Game of the tournament.

The reason so few teams were involved in earlier competitions is because qualifying was basically the knockout rounds.

The fact that we've never reached a final is pathetic.

What have Italy got to do with anything? I know you're trying to funny and / or clever but I'm not Italian, I've never lived in Italy and I don't support Italy. So when I say 'we've', it really doesn't work.

But other than that, good one.

But doesn't that show that it's inevitably on a smaller scale than the World Cup and that the overall standard is bound to be weaker? Qualifcation now must be way easier, too easy. The World Cup definitely has much more history as well as being far more important to most people.
