You would do better talking to the brick, some will not understand the mayor going is / was the done thing. Because they can't win, the are swinging the thread to politics. Nowt to do with it, the figurehead of the city should have been there.
Personally I couldn't care less whether the Mayor got an invite or not. However not knowing the actual situation now between the Allams and HCC, maybe AA could have used this as an olive branch to break the ice between them and invited the women?
The bus should have stopped (If we had won the final of course ) at the City hall, like the first promotion party. Not the damp squib party at the KC for our second promotion.
Being serious for a minute, has anybody seen or heard the Mayor in action? I watched a council meeting, they're all online & she's an embarrassment to the City, her party, politics & herself. If she's ever let out of the City in any capacity other than impersonating Jim Bowen it'll be to the City's detriment. She was best left at home Smashing.
Oh I understand well enough thanks. Snouts in the free stuff trough is the 'done thing' apparently which makes it ok in the eyes of some. We also have bottleless local politicians who are gobby but not brave enough for us to know who they are.
If Allam was talking to the council they would not be a problem. The fact he doesn't want **** all to do with them and he never goes back on his word look at his cv.
Further on in the first post, Matt Wild explains why the mayor was not invited, the old man fell out with the council in Sept 2011. Her being a fan or not, has nothing to do with it.
Balkan , you are missing the point in what your are arguing over , the point is , WHY should a mayor EXPECT the grace and favours of their ceremonial position to include an FA Cup final ticket . If its down to tradition only , then its safe to say for Hull City , when they reach a major cup final , the local council dignitaries wont be offered free tickets - for me thats not a bad thing. !! If you are in the Balkans , im sure you are accustom to the back pocket stuffing that goes on there ,
Of course you would because your argument is based on it. FA cup final tickets had a value in ££ her cowardly gobby mates wanted here to have one for NOTHING apart from looking lovel...........just turning up and all because those same mates gave her a job that the electorate had no say in. If that's not nose in the through then what is.
Sure. What has she done to rectify that situation? Her being a fan, or rather not being a fan, is everything to do with it. If she was, she would have been going anyhow. As a local, if she was a fan, Im sure she'd be a season ticket holder too. If she wants a lovely day out in London, shopping or seeing the sites, I'm sure you'd be more than happy for HCC to cover her expenses if she gets dolled up and wears the chains, so she can pretend she's promoting the city. Personally, I'd be against that too.
There are a number of poster's on here who i have replied to individualy, now it's getting tiresome. So this is MY opinion that's all. I see the role of mayor or mayoress as a figurehead / representative of the city. That person has to do many thing's, some they enjoy some they may not, it's part of the job and position. The renumeration may include a company car, with or without a driver, or a free bus pass. I am sure there will literaly be some free lunch's. Some days the person will be at an opening ceremony in the pouring rain and wind, freezing their tits off. But hay oh that's how it is No matter what you do to make a living, there are up's and down's.
Most posters are getting bogged down in politics. The truth is that the best ever Hull City team has just played (brilliantly) in an FA Cup final in front of a half a billion world wide tv audience. And yet locally the council of the City and the owner of the Club are bickering over personal issues. The Council and Club ought to have been pulling together well before now for the good of all! They both have a duty to do so and are equally as bad as each other. As good as things currently are for Hull City it's hard to forecast the long term. Because the two parties are not working together for the greater good, especially long term, a rapid demise could very easily follow the rapid rise we have enjoyed!!
We all know how petty and vindictive Allam is by this point, his feud with the Hull City Council is known by most people. If it's tradition to invite the Lord Mayor to the FA Cup Final then he should have done it. However, I disagree with the notion that the Lord Mayor represents the city in any way and it pisses me right off that people with no association to the club get freebies.
Would this protect Hull City's home ground in the event of the owner threatening to leave within 24 hours like he did last season?
I dislike Allam as much as anyone and can't wait for him to leave. I also dislike HCC however and their attitude towards City is ****. I couldn't care less if Fudge doesn't get her tickets. I appreciate it isn't about the politicis or about her and that it's the done thing, but I really don't mind us being the one club who don't bring their lord mayor to the cup final, given that ours is a dozy **** and would hardly represent the City in a good light even if she was noticed. Allam's reasoning for doing this is of course ridiculous and doesn't help the situation, nor does this desperate, deliberate leak from HCC's side. I find his actions here far less offensive though, than when he said a few weeks ago that the fans don't matter any more until we get relegated again. I'm surprised there wasn't more backlash to that really and equally surprised so many are bothered about this. Not saying it isn't wrong or petty, but I just don't really care.
