Earned, is the appropriate word. if the owners of SFC think he's worth that then who are we to complain. but of course, this is just a WUM from a pompey fan in disguise, so this is not the response you are hoping for is it! Go get a life!

£25k a week?

Seriously?

I know PFC fans are not ones to hark on about how much chairman receive (Storrie for example) but surely when your chairman is earning more than the majority of the playing staff then you have to wonder?

sorry - RL used to get around that, but like olddellboy said, in my opinion out of all the recent chairman he is perhaps the only one who has earned that.

this means he is on £11.5k a week - does he deserve to earn more than a few of the players at the club? yes i think as he has driven alot of initiatives in just 2 years and we are in such a better position financially and structurally than we were even 5 years ago.

Deserved!!! The man could be earning several times that over in the financial sector. How dare anyone associate him with that wide boy Storrie?

We are talking about a suave business man with a drive for success and acute business acumen. Not some cockney simpleton in an ill fitting suite.

Good thread!

It's a bit like when people moan about top Plc chairman getting big bonuses and salaries. You want top quality people, you got to pay. They achieve their targets, you got to pay.

I don't begrudge him a single penny.

As my post said - does anyone else think this is extremely high for a chairman?

I am very unsure as to where you get your information. We are a private Company, our end of year isn't until the end of June. So where did you get such figures.
Having said that assuming what you said was true lets just go with those figures. A company the size and turn over of Southampton You would expect a CEO to be on a Salary of around £4/500,000. With successful deliveries etc his bonuses at that level would be expected to be around 20/30% of Salary. So for me the figures are spot on. Do you know what level of Salary your current or last CEO was on and what bonuses they may have been given? Especially given the current financial status of Pompey.
It is true that both Teams have had there financial problems. We are at least one to eighteen months ahead of you in overcoming them and our severity was not as hard as yours although because of our lower league status our income may not have been much as yours (includng your parachute payments etc) Although you did have higher wages to pay out. So for me no it was not too much to pay for a successful chairman!!

What did the administrator at Portsmouth earn?

Somebody only earns too much if the employer cannot afford to pay it or somebody of at least equal talent will do the job for less. At present it seems as if the club (for whatever reason) can afford the salary, and the owners obviously believe the answer to the second question is no.
