Would I be right in assuming that this was before the Cotterill had begun to have an effect ? A team of headless chickens with no idea what to do or what was expected of them ? A bunch of downcast losers without direction or impetus ? That is what transition looks like when a new manager moves in with his own ideas and changes stuff. Judge Cotterill on the last ten games, and on next season's performance, not on what happened before he even had a chance to unpack
Within a defeat there are normally elements of team performance that are a level that are not open to question. Players normally can maintain team shape, track back, retain possession of the ball when not pressed. When collectively the team v Brentford almopdt to a man is second best physically and mentally it is irrelevent who the coach / manager is as it simply is not good enough. Worthy supporter? Hundreds left early, ridiculously early in disgust ... So yes it is a silly comparison.
im not blaming cotterill. I'm sticking up for him! Cliftonville is slating him saying the Brentford, Wolves and Sheff u away were our worst performances. I'm saying Wycombe away was. We didn't do nothing for 90 minutes against a team that were in league 2 and finished 1 place above the gas! Even rovers beat them at their place when we couldn't.... SOD HAS been the worst manager at this club for a very very VERY long time..
Bollocks is it a silly comparison, you are judging 3 games against 2 and half good performances in 40 odd games. If you want to carry on with your praise of Sod, then it's your choice but don't tell me I'm making silly comparison's. Sod was by far the worse I've seen in the past 40 years of following City, my opinion. If you liked him then that's yours.
Oh ! Agreed. Thank God we now have a manager who seems to know what he is doing then. Lets hope he can realise that potential next season and send us back up the leagues
'we lost to Wycombe under SoD in the tin pot cup' Shouldn't we be employing Barristers to get us reinstated.
It was. One kick in the bollocks at home v Sheffield or two against Brentford the answer is you would want neither although one is still worse.
Bollocks, so you are saying Brentfords defeat is two kicks in the bollocks where's SoD's reign is one?? As I said above, it's my opinion, and he had his, meaning the conversation is over.
Well said Shiny! I cannot remember the pre war managers because I was not born until 1943. But of all the managers/head coaches City have had since 1950 when I first went to the hallowed ground, SOD is the worst we have had.
Only person mentioning regimes is yourself. The Brentford game is as bad as it gets without it getting to four and five before half time. Brentford fans ole oleing passes in the first half as City players cant get near it as their heads are not in the right place. 12.30 train a oner spent and more for the day off work to watch Brentford taking the piss and City fans telling the stewards open the gates to let people out miles before the game needed or the gates get put through. not just the worst performance of the season but one of the worst away since Luton away 0-4 after forty minutes and again gates open letting people out to head to the pub metres from th eground by the home end. Brentford also had the effect of knocking loads off the next trip to London. No opinion there people knocked games on the head away from home because of that game. Coupe of weeks later Steve Cotterill after Sheffield says he didnt see the 3-0 coming anybody at Brentford wouldnt have been suprised.
as previously said, you clearly didn't go to Wycombe. The performance was worse and it was against the 90th worst team in England, not 3 of the best in OUR league....
Yes and I do not consider it to be worse than the match at Brentford. Understrength yes. Poor yes. City were playing no sixteen year olds at Brentford. Full strength and over powered, out fought, out played, out skilled and out willed.
Your clear love in for SOD hides the truth Im afraid. Wycombe was by far the worse game. No 16 year old in the 2nd half ands its the worse football I've seen from city in 8 years! Im including the 6 nil drubbing from Cardiff. Stop being so negative towards a manager who kept us up
I'm defense of SOD, he did have a difficult task of rebuilding a side on a budget. However he couldn't have stayed in the job for much longer without our demise. I wouldn't have sacked Delboy as he had taken over a bad team from Millen and had been told to tone down the end to end high scoring matches such as against Blackburn and Ipswich. The worst game last season was against Wolves away when a demoralised shambolic team that had neared itself to safety lost abysmally which started our diabolical losing and barely drawing streak and was to be the beginning of SODs demise.
