Barton has another year anyway. We don't replace them with old players, how about replacing them with you get cheaper player who we can sell on if needed?

The ones who are out of contract now don't need to be expensive next season.

You've lost me there. Are you suggesting we keep our crap players like Zamora and AJ but they will sign for less than 50k and 40k that they are currently on?

I wouldn't want AJ, Doyle, Keane, Maiga if they offered to play for free.

No! I'm suggesting we keep the good experienced players, who will give us the experience we need in the PL next year - I include Green, Dunne, Clint, Zamora and Barton in this "good" as long as they are fit and want to play for us, but not AJ (don't think he is fit enough, or Doyle, probably not good enough, or Keane or Maiga but they are hardly experienced either! The ones out of contract (Green?, Dunne? (think he has been given a new 1 year contract), Clint and BZ would need to renogiate new contracts, and they can hardly expect to be on mega wages as their playing careers reach their close. Whatever they will be offered is surely what the market dicatates now for that type of player, not what they were in their previous contracts.

Old players will not usually want to drop their wages, I could see hill doing it but Green left WHU because of wages, Zamora is a money man too but it looks like we dont want him too.

Dunne has another year as does Barton. Zamora is on mega money, 50k. I doubt Hill is on anywhere near that and I think hes the only player that fits into your example, especially if theres a coaching job for him next summer.

Towards the end of the season, he had a big impact after being brought on for the last half hour. Prior to that he was pants, possibly because he was carrying an injury. But you can't pay the mega bucks he probably wants for someone who's not capable of playing a full 90 minutes. He's hardly cover for Charlie because he can't be relied on to be fit. For the right money...

yeah but he's been injured for the most part. perhaps now he's back to full fitness he can play an important (bit) part in the coming season. give him a year on less cash…can't hurt. be bad for morale shipping out the geezer whose winner got us promoted for starters.
