Nope they shot themselves in the foot by hedging their bets who was going to get into power and who they would jump into bed with. Finito.

 

You can make a case for them being forced into a coalition with the Conservatives by the electoral arithmetic. You can also argue that they've put the brakes on some of the worst excesses of the Tories. Clegg, on the other hand, has been dead in the water since the University fees fiasco. He is personally implicated in that, whereas it's possible Vince Cable could distance himself from it. Clegg should fall on his sword for the good of his part imo.
