In all the post-match interviews, I thought I heard one of players drop a bit of a clanger. When talking about Bobby, he mentioned the words... ".....in his last match....." Could be wrong ? Wouldn't have against him playing another year.
Bobby Zamora set for QPR exit despite scoring the £134m goal which sealed Premier League return Former West Ham and Fulham striker to be released by newly promoted club Scored last-minute winner at Wembley to seal immediate return to top-flight Confident he can still do a job in the Premier League Keeping options open regarding his next move News to be confirmed following QPR's transfer planning meeting on Friday He scored the goal that decided the £134million play-off final at Wembley, but Bobby Zamora is set to be placed on the scrapheap by QPR. The striker, 33, scored the dramatic late winner against Derby at Wembley last weekend, but Sportsmail has learned that QPR are planning life without him in the top flight. Zamora had scored only three goals all season for QPR after another injury-ravaged campaign, when he was involved in only 21 games in all competitions. With Rangers looking to reduce their wage bill – Zamora is thought to be earning around £60,000-a-week – they have decided he is surplus to requirements. This is expected to be confirmed in Friday’s transfer planning meeting when their budget and strategy for the new season will be confirmed. Former Brighton, Tottenham, West Ham and Fulham striker Zamora has cost more than £12million in transfer fees in his career. The Barking-born forward was also picked twice for England. After scoring against Derby on Saturday, he said: ‘My contract is up so we’ll see what happens. It would be nice to stay. 'I’ve been good enough to play for England. Fabio Capello does not pick idiots. I still believe I am a Premier League player.’ QPR have since decided that his future is destined to be elsewhere. A source close to the striker said: ‘Bobby feels he can still do a job in the top flight and will be interested to see who else comes in for him. He is keeping his options open.’ Scoring the winner for QPR is the second time Zamora has decided a play-off final, having scored the winner for West Ham against Preston in 2004. ‘Bobby scores important goals,’ said the source. ‘When he is fit, he will deliver in the box, as he showed at Wembley.’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...g-134m-goal-sealed-Premier-League-return.html
Get rid. Barring the last 8 games, he's been garbage. That Wembley goal has paid back the 10odd million we've ploughed into his contract, time for everyone to call it quits
Sorry, he scored a multi-million pound goal....and he also got us through the semifinals against Wigan. He will always have a great part of my QPR heart....but he has been used as an impact sub and to take the next step up we have to be ruthless... We know he cannot replace Charlie Austin when injured or suspended, he cannot harass a team for 90 minutes, he cannot bully a premier league CD for a whole match To go forward we need to say thank you so much Bobby, We could not have done it without you, tough decision but....... and just remember................................." ooooh Bobby Zamora".........will be one of our best moments ever Thank you Bobby
I heard that. I thought he was supposed to be having a career ending op last summer. Maybe it has caught up with him
He got £10m for scoring that goal, we owe him nothing. Its also a nice memory for him to leave on, I see him finishing his career at Brighton.
Spot on Beth before the last 8 games he would have bombed out of QPR as a complete dud but those last set of games he was a completely new player maybe rolling back to how he played 10 years , now he will go down in history with QPR as a hero know. I reckon if we don't aim high with 2 quality strikers in this window then maybe pay as u play contract for another year
Me too. Now when fit he looks a top top striker. We would be stupid to let him go if as it seems he wants to play for us.
He'll do a job for another championship team. He has looked good recently but agree its time to move on.
Just reading those two words in the Fail report, 'budget' and, 'strategy'. Do we actually possess these for the coming transfer dealings? Hopefully.
I don't really believe that. The big risk with him is of course his fitness, but this applies to all the older players. We need some experience in the team and I would much prefer to keep the likes of him, Green, Dunne, Clint and Barton at least another year, who have all shown that they give 100% for QPR, than let them go, only to replace them with new 30+ players who may not give everything for our Club.
