    who cares?

Do you care more about what your girlfriend/boyfriend looks like to other people than how you view them?

The difference between Liverpool and us is that Liverpool don't try to sit in the opposition half and try to gradually break the opposition down. We have a striker who comes deep as a playmaker to create chances in tight situations at the edge of the box, and Liverpool use a holding midfielder to create chances from deep, and a bunch of rapid players ahead of him to annihilate teams on the break.

Replace Suarez with Lambert and you're quite simply weakening your team, so one would assume if Suarez goes another top striker comes in. I think Rickie will be an alternative to Sturridge. When Liverpool play that narrow diamond with two proper strikers up top, I think Rickie could fit in quite well next to Suarez. When they do what they sometimes do and play more of an attacking three with Suarez going wide, it's hard to see him fitting in. They'd have to slow it right down.

If you regularly had people coming up to you going "mate, your missus is a munter" then I imagine you'd care a little bit.

BBC saying the fee is around 4m, Sky saying between 8 and 10m. I think one of them needs to check their sources.

Rickie Lambert will sign a two-year deal at Liverpool if he passes a medical on Saturday, BBC Sport has learned.
The fee for the 32-year-old Southampton and England striker is in the region of £4m.

An update on Liverpool's bid to sign Southampton striker Rickie Lambert. The England international is expected to undergo a medical on Saturday after Liverpool agreed a fee with Southampton. It is understood that Liverpool have offered between £8million and £10m for Lambert.

I personally think it's just different ways of trying to simplify a complex agreement, probably involving structured payments and add-ons. For this sort of scenario I tend to assume the following:

Initial fee of [smallest reported figure], possibly rising to [largest reported figure].

I wonder what these reported add ons could be?

because an extra few million makes what difference in getting in a replacement when we've just earned £80m from Sky payments?

Also hoping he has been allowed to move on because of the new striker about to be unveiled along with the high profile manager.

Well this seems to be a thing now so i join the rest to say thank you Rickie for what you've done for us over the years.

There's certainly a sense of destiny about the whole thing what with him starting at Liverpool and then scrapping and fighting for years to eventually return triumphantly. When he retires he's gonna be a very happy man with a great story to tell I imagine...and hope for his sake.

I've kept away from this one while I had a think about it. It is no doubt troubling for a Saints fan to lose their talisman and I have flicked from it being a disaster, to it being good money for a 32 year old, to it not being enough money to replace him, to he was our most creative player assist-wise, to he had a real bad patch, to 5 great years, to he should retire here.... and after all this, I keep coming back to one thought:

If I got a call from Southampton FC to do a similar job to the one I am in, earning the same or more money, then I'd be the happiest man on earth. I would be in dream land. Could anyone really take that dream from happening for me?

Bit of day dreaming.. Lambert leaves, but Lallana stays. Shaw is replaced by Bertrand (or Ben Davies?) and in come Borini and Benteke. Wouldn't be a too bad return. Here's hoping we recruit well.

Tend to agree with most folks' sentiments. Sad to see him go but what a story! 'Beetroot to Brazil' anyone?
Proud to say I saw his first game against Northampton when he scored with his arse and his last and most home games in between. Will really miss his sublime play and vision and I think he will do Liverpool proud.
We have to move on ( hopefully not in ever -decreasing circles!)
