OT - Christian vs Muslim

Glad to see this is an interesting discussion...long may that continue.

For my part, stories like this make me angry for numerous reasons...they make me angry because the guy is a fool, who if he is a Christian, should read his Bible...if he did, he'd find a lot in there about loving your neighbour, and caring for those you disagree with. It also makes me angry because this is such a misrepresentation of what both religions really stand for. I know the majority of Christians and Muslims are far more interested in caring for the poor, loving their neighbours, and doing right acts, than they are in making stupid comments about other religions, yet it is the one fool making stupid comments that gets in the paper.

It's just a shame that religions contribute so much to society, but all we ever hear is this kind of nonsense.

 

Andy, someone criticising Sharia law would obviously have a point. The problem here is that this lunatic is substituting Sharia law for his own set of wacky laws, "spawned in hell" "satanic" etc and is saying that all Muslims aren't to be trusted.

The other disturbing thing from this is that the First Minister said he'd only trust a Muslim to nip down the shops for him. This suggests racial supremacism, IE that the only job he could envisage a Muslim doing is something mundane like that. Perhaps cleaning his house as well? It also means, for example, that he wouldn't trust a Muslim surgeon to operate on him. This is the head of Northern Ireland for fukk's sake!!

There's criticism of religion and then there's just plain ignorance Andy lad.

I had a conversation with someone recently. It is amazing how much his faith blinds him from facts. Or even researching his arguments. Simple things like marriage is a Christian thing. But what upset me the most was he bigotry that then came from this.
