Semi-relevant, but Sam Gallagher reminds me of Gandalf amongst the hobbits compared to others in the new crop. It's great.

Still can't get my head around this. Wow, just wow. Mental.

Mixed emotions. Really happy for Rickie, knowing what a top bloke he is, but disappointed he won't be ending with us.

Woke up to this and echo the mixed emotions for Rickie.

Couple of days ago it was MP's departure that, together with the list of names linked with a move earlier in this thread makes logging in a nervous start to the day. So login or not? Drip fed disappointment or all in one hit? Must be some positive news to come. Day by day for me although we'll be off Sunday for a few days on an Island without access, mustn't let whats going on at SMS affect the pleasure of a tropical paradise. Bloody shame to see SFC with more sharks circling than I'll be seeing at 30 meters underwater. I'll be looking for a ray of hope.

Time for a new cocktail mix this evening working name oblivion express.<cheers><cheers><cheers>

Tbh, I'm not sure I can get my head around it either. Rickie has very much been my favourite player since Matt Le Tissier. Just as I couldn't imagine MLT playing for anyone else, I'm finding really difficult imagining it of Rickie. I've a sentimental streak a mile wide, but I can usually control it with ease. This guy blows that control to dust. I wanted to be a proud Saints supporter when he stepped out at the World Cup, because he'd represent our club, and that looks like it isn't going to happen. It might make excellent business sense but the guy is the team talisman and the steely morale built over 5 years is going to collapse. If he goes it gives the lot of them the excuse to leave. It also means he doesn't believe the ambition is there anymore and that will spread like wildfire too. I'll be honest, at this moment I've lost my optimism. It took just 5 months to stop the train. Great work, Pepys. In fact, ****ing inspired..!

Come on, man. He doesn't have much time left in his career and this is a chance for him to play in Champion's League and win a title with the club he actually supports. How is he going to say no to that? It wouldn't be any different if NC and MP were still here.

I actually thought he was going to persuade Adz and Luke to stay during his time with England...how wrong was I?

At least I've pretty much forgotten that Pochettino left us for Spurs this week.

Agree with Channon and Si. If this has always been his dream who are we to begrudge him after all he has done for our club. He is and always will be a Saints legend,

He'll still be representing us. Even if he is technically someone else's player, he got into that squad playing for Southampton.

I was happy to support Saints through all the lean years...suffered a lot, had some good players amongst a lot of middling ones, but was buoyed up by intermittent triumphs (FA Cup final, beating United 3 years running etc). If I wanted anything else, I could have switched to supporting a big club, but never did. We have had a great 5 years and I have been so proud to support Saints...great players, success, media admiration, and international recognition of our players at all age groups...I don't want this snatched away now. I don't want okay and mediocre any more...I don't unrealistically demand Champions' League...but I want us to carry on as we have done recently. Need appointment of a manager of the calibre that says we are still in business, followed by a couple of good signings and news that the core of the team is staying together. Shaw and Lallana may go, but we must retain the likes of Lovren, Fonte, Cork, and Schneiderlin.

    And JRod definitely.

Out of all three players, i'm proudest of Rickie and that won't change and his status as one of our greatest ever players won't change.

I hope for Southampton and Kruegers sake that we continue to reject any bids until a new manager is installed. We've already seen from the reactions on this forum/twitter etc that a lot of fans are hitting the panic button.
It's clear that the media pressure is coming from Liverpool on this. I don't know what they really gain from trying to bring this transfer forward before the world cup, but it's what they're trying to do. Perhaps they think we'll sell for a lower price

I always thought that the team we most resemble is Liverpool...they obviously feel the same. A bit of our quality would have won them the title. Shame we didn't just grab some of theirs...perhaps the title could have been ours :)

Lets just try and stay calm (tries to sound convincing) and see what happens. We have to trust the Board we have no choice!

Agree, and I reckon that because we knew that we needed another striker, it may be that we have already found a top quality one, or possibly two and that is why Rickie might be for sale.
It doesn't make sense otherwise. Don't believe it's all a plot to cheat Bournemouth of a sell-on fee; that doesn't feel like the way the Liebherr family roll.
