14 goals and 11 assists playing for Southamton is highly impressive for someone who went missing for large parts of the season? not belittling S'Ampton, but Eto had the luxury of playing with much better players around him and Lambert still did better. Heck he couldn't score a single goal away from home!
Eto: 34 games & 12 goals in all comps: 0.35 goals per game Lambert: 39 games & 14 goals in all comps: 0.35 goals per game Good call
What's really happened to make this ironed on in the past hour? I'm still betting a Tottenham link is being written right now
I wasn't going to but the developments over the last hour or so have made it pretty impossible to ignore.
A lot of bets were placed on it happening- so betting was suspended... On Soton board now they're saying that the bid has been rejected.
Oh no eats has walked into that one, facts trumps arrogant dismissals any day You'd not mind but e'tto can't wait to shake the dust of chav town off his sandals and curse the place forever
How was I wrong it's not impressive, etoo didn't have a great year and his goals to game ratio is identical
Same goal to game ratio- but Eto'o is older, on much higher wages, etc. You think Eto'o is going to get better with age?!?!?!!?! I would say Lambert is a better option than Eto'o. Not one of the world's best strikers... merely better than Eto'o.
TBF to Eats, he wasn't the one that brought up Eto, he just laughed at the Lambert rumours. however, he did try to defend Eto afterwards...
You were the one saying you can't compare the two players based on glory years long gone for eto....then sidestepped to figures don't compare...then sidestepped to...wait, agreeing that they do compare but now as a point in favour of your....argument????? You must be a bit dizzy by now....
And they know.... How? The stories said bets went on early in the day and all. Right now it's all rumours and where the truth is buried within is not yet possible to say, I don't think anythings changed since it broke In the end.... If the plane is headed to Miami then hodgson has to let him out of camp tomorrow so I am waiting to see what really happens... If the old fella turns up for 4 mil... We can sell aspas for the same. Whatever but I still reckon that we'll see someone chancing a late spurs entry to the fray
Meh, underwhelming signing, but not exactly the worst thing to happen to a premier league team. Good, solid, experienced striker who offers something different, is still very much used to playing in the attacking style Liverpool employ and is available on a pretty cheap deal... Can certainly see the attraction, especially as Liverpool need more bodies for Europe. Can see him sitting looking unhappy on the bench for a lot of the season though. Would have been a really good signing for us (Newcastle), but because it's not an X Factor player from a South American country we've never heard of, he's just not someone you would automatically think of with a big club, hence underwhelming. Wish him well though, and hope this doesn't start an exodus from Saint Mary's.
