When the club director said "With the exception of Messi, Ronaldo or Bale, we could buy most players", what he actually meant was we could buy them only if no other big club is in for them, which leaves out most proven world class players. As I'm sure most people here internally accept, Arsenal aren't likely to do what it takes to secure a transfer of a player that is an important target sought after by Chelsea, City, ManU, PSG, Real, Barca, Bayern... What i hope for though is that for players who aren't quite so hot on the radar of these other teams we make some decisive action earlier when the ball is on our court, and not leave everything up to external factors a la Ozil.
