Fair enough, they don't need to sell and he'd be a big loss for them. Bit surprised that Liverpool are in for him.
Diego Costa: Atletico Madrid striker passes Chelsea medical Spain striker Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea ahead of a proposed £32m transfer from Atletico Madrid. Chelsea met the buyout clause in the 25-year-old's contract with Atletico and he will now negotiate personal terms. Getting their business done and dusted nice and early.
Unfortunately only in Wenger's mind... Another transfer close to completion, this time for Liverpool. Not sure how good this guy is so maybe a German expert can enlighten us on how good this guy is. But Germany seem to be producing top quality midfielders lately, so he must have some quality and he's young. Emre Can: Liverpool hope to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for Germany Under-21 midfielder Emre Can. The 20-year-old has a £10m release clause in his contract and Liverpool have indicated they are willing to meet that figure. The deal had appeared to stall over the weekend because of the player's personal terms. But talks are progressing more smoothly now and all parties are hopeful a deal can be concluded in the coming week.
When the club director said "With the exception of Messi, Ronaldo or Bale, we could buy most players", what he actually meant was we could buy them only if no other big club is in for them, which leaves out most proven world class players. As I'm sure most people here internally accept, Arsenal aren't likely to do what it takes to secure a transfer of a player that is an important target sought after by Chelsea, City, ManU, PSG, Real, Barca, Bayern... What i hope for though is that for players who aren't quite so hot on the radar of these other teams we make some decisive action earlier when the ball is on our court, and not leave everything up to external factors a la Ozil. You can't luck out like that so often. And the "World Cup/Euro Cup" year excuse for late transfers is tiring, and historically bullshit.
Anybody watching the England v Ecuador game ? Ox is playing really well and just provided the assist for the England goal.
ox playing himself into starting team possible. the rest playing themselves out of starting 11 as we are awful in defence.
Oxo has been the best player on the pitch. Yet the commentators are creaming themselves about Barkley and Rooney
Jack Wiltshire looks like a moody teenager after a night in the student bar ! Did you see him try and fight Valencia
What the hell was Sterling thinking making that tackle? Friendly or not (though I can't quite understand why that should make any difference...) he deserved a red for it.
Seems Oxo ****ed his knee up tonight: "A concerned Roy Hodgson on Oxlade-Chamberlain, 'we have our fears there might be some ligament damage'. Scan required for knee."
