I'm not too surprised at Lambert being released but amazed by the destination. Rickie Lambert has probably been the most talismanic figure Saints have had since le Tissier and I think I would have to wish him all the best for what he has done for us. I'm disappointed that he has gone but £4m is a good deal assuming me don't have to pay Bristol Rovers any sell on. Liverpool site is mentioning possible players in an exchange deal. BBC now reporting that this deal is expected to be concluded on Saturday with negotiations with Lovren and Lallana continuing. £4 million is a good deal for Lambert but I doubt if we could replace him with anyone half as good for that money. Gallagher does not really look the part, in my opinion.

For what it is worth, I am wondering is there is, in fact, a bigger picture behind the scene. I can appreciate why Poch was reluctant to commit himself to Saints as it looks like there are serious money issues within the club. Looks to me like Leibherrs are trying to asset strip to plug the gap caused by the excessive spending over the last two years. It reminds me a bit of the situation with Leeds Utd about fifteen years ago where they over-reached themselves as they pursued a European dream.

Several things caught my attention in the recent publicity over the last week. The first of these was the fact that Cortese spoke of the uniqueness of Southampton and his BBC interview made me wonder whether he was looking for a potential new buyer. The other comment was one made on Radio Solent by a Saints fan on Tuesday night that Southampton should have looked to expand St. Mary's if they wanted to progress any higher. My opinion is that this would have been a folly as the ground is rarely full and most of the revenue from football no longer comes through the turnstiles.

Why are people so keen to believe every bad news story they hear? Just relax and enjoy the summer.

I don't blame Rickie for leaving to play for his boyhood team and in the Champions League, albeit he won't start many games and probably has one good season left in him. I do feel gutted though as I thought he'd retire here and we're now going to need 2 strikers. He's certainly showed loyalty, so I don't begrudge him much. Pochettino, a fair bit.

Well, Saturday in Liverpool's medical room is going to be awkward.

"Rickie you don't need to be here, they rejected the bid."

"But, my wife wrote a status and everything? My sister even tweeted about it FFS"

"There is no deal, go back to Miami."

    "But... But..... Beetroot factory?"

I have three weeks left here, then I'm in Southampton for a day before embarking on a huge cross-Europe camping trip for a month. Off the grid as much as possible. It'll be bliss.

My concern is that I suffer a severe heart attack during the three weeks prior to leaving my computer for the summer.

Odd thought but if the bid has been rejected I wonder why Rickie's wife and sister are so happy? Particularly his wife's comment about "coming home".

Maybe they're divorcing, and she's really happy and free cos they've not been that good for a while, and she's moving back to Liverpool?

This is a joke btw ;)

I was gutted to hear he was leaving, but it would be cruel on him to prevent this move too.

That a big offer had been made and (as most sources were reporting) was close to being accepted.

Krueger called them, telling them that Rickie will play for Liverpool.

He then put the bid (received via fax) in a blender, and drank it. He didn't reject the bid, he drank the ****ing bid.

    Ralph is hardcore.
