I know it's unlikely, but it;s possible, ok.

All the while you stick a guy with broad shoulders and no football credentials to ruin at the helm to field the flack.

That's so plausible that it makes me feel sick.

It's also possible that I could end the night in a threesome with Jennifer Aniston and Whoopi Goldberg. Unlikely, though.

Lambert is a fantastic striker...strangely peaking at a mature age...why? Because of Saints! I'm sure he is grateful...he said so in a recent interview. If he was the only one I'd say good luck, then go and cry in a cupboard. But we weren't even considering him going...we don't need soft words and pats on the head...we need statements.

We'd have to spend big to replace Lambert and there would be a mass exodus if he got sold. Like you say, he contributed 23 goals this season directly! Only Suarez got more assists in open play this season and his strike partner was Sturridge for f**ks sake! Only 6 players beat Lambert on goals and assists added together this season!

My optimistic guess, well intentioned board can't do anything about a bunch of players who were only here for promises of sky pie.

Sure, but when half your players would like to be somewhere else so you accept offers for all of them, you do find yourself largely stripped of assets. You can use the "they wanted to go" reasoning for all the players we sell, but we just can't sell that many key players and be in a good position for next season.

We know Lallana, Shaw and Lovren are wanted. We've heard that Wanyama might fancy going somewhere else. If we're willing to let Lambert go for 4 million measly pounds plus add ons, what hope does that give us?

I'm sorry, but this is a joke. £9M was ****, £4M is absolutely ****. We are about to sell one of our best ever players for an absolute pittance. What sort of example is this from the board to our other players?

the scale of what's going on doesn't bode well for staying up though.

Long term we may be fine.

I have it on good authority that the board hated the "we are southampton we're off to brazil" chant, so have decided to take measures into their own hands

At this rate, the "top european managers" we're looking at might actually be a couple of no marks from the Dutch second division.
