Actually Norfolk, Peterborough has a huge Asian population - before they settled here it was the Italians so this City is used to immigration on a large scale. However, even the Asian community in Peterborough is "concerned" about the huge influx of Eastern Europeans entering the City and local area (to work the fertile Fen fields). The crime rate has risen here and much of it is linked, unfortunately, to the Eastern European influx. It may not be so noticable in Norwich but in Peterborough City Centre it seems like English is the second spoken language now and I've heard more English spoken on the streets of Amsterdam, Munich and Antwerpen (all of which I have visited recently) than I have in Peterborough. I don't think it is immigration itself that is the problem - it's the management of it and the sheer mass of numbers coming in that overstresses local government and communities reeling from frozen or shrunken budgets.
the issue i have is that if you check out ukip's policies (rather than just focus on the immigration issue, which clearly some people in this country will have sympathy with), they are not only out of touch but down right dangerous if given any kind of power - and no, they won't win the general election but i bet they win some seats and then what? another hung parliament? could the tories snuggle up to ukip to give them a majority? who'd have predicted the lib dems would jump into bed with them? many people say they have voted for them 'as a protest' but it makes it no more logical than those who vote for the bnp or english democrats as a protest as far as i'm concerned. farage might be terrific at debate and like a beer, his party might have shaken politics up and who knows, maybe some good will come of it, but in my opinion ukip are a dangerous and ugly party who could cause serious trouble for this country.
The other trouble is Ukip as a party might not be racist but every other day someone tweets something nasty either racist or worse, this makes me wonder how many scumbags they have in there.
That's got to be a wind-up article, no? How does any of that money go back into the economy? If it was legalised and taxed then yes of course it would - cannabis is the biggest cash crop in the country but all the proceeds go straight into the pockets of dealers and gangster so how it is currently creating a boost to the economy I'm afraid I don't understand.
On have I Got News, they mentioned whenever UKIP gets labelled as racist by the other parties, their popularity goes up.
What is far more dangerous is burying your head in the sand and pretending that there isn't a problem with the current rate of immigration! The left will have you believe that every race, creed and colour all live happily together in perfect harmony side by side! This may be the case in metropolitan London but you don't have to travel too far outside the capital to discover areas of ghettoisation! This issue is no longer off limits for open debate and rightly so!
you think if theres a qualified UK citizen is available to do the job, then the non UK citizen should be able to get it ahead of him? if thats the case then you are labelling the likes of the USA, Canada, Aus, all 'despicable'. even with whatever the unemployment figures are, 2,000,000 + people without work (in reality probably about another million on top), you think its great news that another 300,000 people will come in and take minimum wage jobs, paying little or no tax. its great for businesses who have access to a virtually unlimited supply of labour, but not for those who are out of work. who should the government protect? EU citizens and tesco / amazon, or UK citizens? you've shown who you care about and you are entitled to that view, but the government should always side with its own people, in my opinion.
No definitely no Religious Education. My proudest moment was when my son's RE teacher complained that had said religious belief was a manifestation of mental illness. There is nothing out there FACT!!
Yesterday on a Radio2 phone in there was a brilliant Norfolk Jostler. He was obviously ancient but scored a great hit. That awful Feltz woman was cross examining our man who was probably leaning on a gate just outside Stratton Strawless. His riposte "We hear from these here London folk in their million pound houses and they say "I live next to an immigrant and he is lovely.Of course he is you old fool he is living in a million pound house too". Nail, head, hit.
Now there JWM you show your naivety. You walked into this one pal.I have fairies living at the bottom of my garden. Now you prove me wrong.
My fairies are just as real as Jesus,Allah,Mohammed and all the rest of the figments of the human imagination.
what a surprise. once again, the point is completely missed. as i said, i have sympathy with those genuinely worried about immigration (i doubt any with serious worries live in this region yet they seem to be the ones voting for them which again, is concerning) BUT ukip are a party who have OTHER POLICIES that YOU are voting for, whether tactically or sincerely. and many of those policies are dangerous for this country's future.
Before the elections I found a website that asked you 30 questions about policies (eg: "Should the UK leave the EU", to "Should GM crops be allowed throughout the EU") and then tells you at the end which party agreed with your views the most, based upon party manifestos. I think I had an opinion on 28 of the questions, of which one mainstream party agreed with about 24 (so that's who I voted for). All the established parties had 17+ opinions in line with mine, whilst UKIP came in at just 6, and the BNP 4. Whilst you may want mainstream politicians to assume a UKIP vote is purely over the EU, you're also saying you agree with a lot more of what they're saying.
