The First Minister of Northern Ireland, Peter Robinson, has been slated after he refused to condemn a Pastor's comments that Islam is "heathen", "satanic", "spawned in hell" and that no Muslim can be trusted. When asked would he trust a Muslim, the First Minister replied no but he'd trust one to "go down the shops for him and give him the correct change".

The Pastor took on a Muslim last night on BBC Northern Ireland's Stephen Nolan show. It gets a bit tasty involving a member of the audience when George Galloway comes on.

This will not end well. Which I suspect is why you've posted it.

You don't want to discuss this lads? Fair enough. I thought it'd be a good debate.

Mods, close if you want to. No problem.

I think it could be a good debate, Swords, but things often don't turn out that way. I'll give it a listen.

I saw this program, and the interview with McConnell in his tabernacle the previous week, when Stephen Nolan gave him a thorough grilling. Last night's program was a bj in comparison.

The difficulty here is that this man wants to be arrested and to go on trial, and that process would inevitably fuel further problems for minority communities in NI. It's a tricky situation to handle because he has a lot of grassroots support in the loyalist community and violence could erupt which would make life even harder for those groups he is currently targeting.

We are all sprung from the same stock, partakers of the same nature and sharers in the same hope. Who cares what race, colour or creed?

    * That guy was actually in the Ulster Unionist party and was suspended for his comments and then resigned this morning.

I understand mate. The Mods might want to close this one.

Absolute f***ing disgrace. Medievil politics and opinions from people who just can't help themselves.
Unashamed Bigotry, but then, why am I surprised.

    That's the one.

If it wasn't for the fact that some ordinary people could get damaged in this I'd just say 'a plague on both your houses and get on with it'. But what he's saying does follow the idiot logic of religious belief. You have to believe in the absolute truth and infallibility of your particular 'faith', otherwise you are not a real believer (whether Catholic, C of E, Presbyterian, Muslim, Hindu, Shinto, Buddhist whatever). You are by definition right to the exclusion of all others, who by definition must be blasphemers, infidels, pagans whatever. Medieval, too right, ignorant ****ers.

Lets hope this doesn't end in violence.

Slightly disagree Stan. I am a believer, but am tolerant and even interested in Islam. One cannot blindly worship their particular God without some knowledge of the beliefs of others, whether their God be the one I believe in, Allah, Buddah, etc. What you have described is (in my opinion) a religious zealot.

A Pakistani woman has been killed by her relatives outside Lahore High Court for marrying against their wishes.

Police said 30-year old Farzana Parveen died on the spot after being attacked with bricks and sticks.

Her father handed himself in, but police say her brothers and former fiance, who also took part in the attack, were still free.

Correspondents say hundreds of girls and women in Pakistan are killed every year by family members.

However, many more killings are believed to go unreported.

Farzana Parveen's parents accused her husband, Muhammad Iqbal, of kidnapping her, and had filed a case against him at the High Court.

However, she testified to police that she had married him of her own accord. Police said the couple had been engaged for a number of years.

As she arrived at the court building for a hearing, police said about a dozen family members pulled her aside and began to attack her and her husband, who managed to escape.

Police official Umer Cheema told Reuters that all the family members escaped after the killing, apart from her father, who has admitted his role in her death.

The BBC's Shumaila Jaffery says marriage against the wishes of relatives is culturally unacceptable in some parts of Pakistan.

Under Pakistani law, the victim's family is allowed to forgive the killer. However, in many cases family members are themselves responsible for the killing.

Fair enough Sheff, and I've got into theological debates on here in the past with less than pretty results, and I don't intend to do it again (unless provoked, and you are obviously not doing that). Perhaps my understanding of religious belief is faulty, but I guess that if you are true Christian believer by default followers of other faiths must be wrong. But I'll give you that doesn't mean you automatically have to fear and attack them. Sometimes I exaggerate for effect!

We have a lot of those, 10 a f**king penny. Everyone is entitled to believe in what they want to, but not to abuse and inflame others to shun or exclude others in our Community because of Colour, Race or Creed.

It is wrong, full stop, and I know what follows it if its not nipped in the bud.

Absolutely no intention of provoking an argument with anyone. Debate however is always welcome, even if the subject is as thorny as this. Don't get me wrong, I'm no bible bashing, church attending God botherer, just an ordinary chap who believes that there has to be something better. The world would be a much happier place if we were all a little more tolerant of each others beliefs, even if it clashes with those of our own. Except liking Chelsea of course, that, I'll NEVER understand!
