We wouldn't have had to count the pennies (apart from the odd star acquisition) and we would not be at the mercy of yanks.

There seems to be some myth that Glazers turned us into the massive business that we are but the truth is we already were.

I'm not pretending we were some quaint family run club, we weren't we were a plc at the mercy of shareholders, but we were self financing and already cash rich and tapping into foreign markets. We were also significantly debt free.

The Nike deal was done pre Glazers, I know the lawyer who brokered it, and we were already getting other major sponsorship via Peter Kenyon.

All the Glazers did was **** us up financially and brought in global sponsorship to finance the debt.

Oh, and severely restricted transfer funds and put up ticket costs.

I've just been listening to Jim White of the Daily Telegraph on TalkSport. White is a Man Utd fan and according to him the Glazers have bled Tampa Bay dry and turned them into a team of also rans.He also said the amount of money they have taken out of Man Utd to service the debt would have paid for free tickets for every game at OT during their time in charge

Well hes talking ****e isnt he ( being on Talksport means yes ). They took a nothing team and made them superbowl champions. When the world went to pot financially yes they became tight arses. However Tampa would never have achieved what it did without the Glazers.

Isnt Sir Alex quoted somewhere as stating the Glazers were the reason he carried on so long. His praise of them as owners is unwavering. They let him get on with it which is the dream for any manager.

The views on Glazer are very contrasting. Those who know very little of him dont like him ( us fans ) and those who knew and worked with him cannot praise him highly enough.

Hes probably somewhere in between. An astute business man and a sports fan. Owned several clubs in several sports and those clubs have enjoyed success. Whether we like it or not, he knew what he was doing.

You are not wrong there. He knew how to make money out of United, that is not in doubt...<ok>

Only Ferguson being manager prevented the catastrophic slide everyone bar none predicted and last season has happened at last because Fergie was not around..<ok>

Absolute ****ing ****e. The season last year was down to the incorrect appointment of an incapable manager.

Put a burger flipper in charge of Apple and watch them collapse. Thats what we did.

not sure about anyone else but I didnt see us finishing 7th. In fact anyone who says they did is a liar.

I also doubt the slide will continue so what happens then. Is it all down to how LVG prevented it? Damn Glazer!

He didn't buy us for his love of sport, hence he never bothered to go to any of our games. He bought us as he seen us as an opportunity to make some easy money. If he bought us for his love of sport, he'd of been at some games watching the team play. That's part of the fun of being an owner of a football club. Id say he had barely any interest in how we where getting on on the pitch, just aslong as we where making him money

at 76/77 years of age when he took over and gave control to his family ( we were owned by the Glazer family not Malcom Glazer ).

He wasnt in good health. This may be why he never came.

His sons however did, they have also ran the club for the past few years since Malcom had a stroke.

do many 77 year olds in ill health travel across the world?

He probably didnt leave his home in the past year.

I wouldn't say Moyes was the equivalent of a burger flipper...<doh> Anyone taking over immediately after Fergie with these same players would have had a difficult time.

I knew as early as January that we were on the slide. Although i didn't expect us to finish 7th, I knew that Moyes had an mountainous task to put us back on track. Giggs, nor anyone else including LVG would not have been able to stop the slide. The reason why I was relieved we were not near the relegation zone. I have seen it happen before and you seem to underestimate the task.

He bought us 9 years ago, I doubt his health was that bad that he couldn't take the journey across in his private jet <laugh>

He had a stroke shortly after buying the club IIRC. Hence why his sons have managed it day to day (and haven't been too bad)

It is quite difficult to mourn someone we never really knew anything about though, other than that he bled the club dry.

Wasn't there a rumour a couple of years ago about the Glazers allegedly syphoning money from Man Utd to prop up their failing shopping mall business in the USA ?

You wouldnt but many would. At least in terms of what he brought to United which happened to be **** all.

You state nobody would have stopped the slide. again I disagree but we have no way of knowing. i base my theory on much more than 'well moyes couldnt do it so nobody could' though. For me a whole host could have improved us from january onwards. I would have expected top 4 but Moyes remained and top 4 slipped away in a matter of weeks. we lost a game and moyes couldnt motivate the players again that season. LvG is one of manay managers who would have brought different results simply because they ojuld have brought a refreshing dose of positivity.

Remember when Moyes told us we were **** ( not literally but in as many words ) and that all our players were relics or had no experience ( again not literally )? Well LvG said we are the best and biggest club in the world. Hes come here to win, Moyes came here to try.

God loves a trier of course but the issue is..... god doesnt exist..... so nobody loves a trier really. people love winners. Moyes wasnt a winner.

even Celtic have turned Moyes down for Roy Keane. FFS smith. what does that tell you about Moyes? everything. He would take celtic to 17th in the SPL. Do you know there isnt even a 17th in the SPL but Moyes would make it happen*

    *Not entirely serious.
