Stevie Wants Four More Years At Liverpool

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Luis Figo no7, Jun 23, 2011.

  1. Steven Gerrard says he has four more years left at Liverpool. He started just 22 matches last season and missed
the final two months of the campaign with a groin
problem. But he is confident he can play on for a few more
years — and land some silverware in the process. Gerrard said: "I'd like to finish my career with a few
more trophies. I always look at the 35 marker. "If I get there and I'm still involved with Liverpool I'll be delighted but at the moment I'm feeling as
good as ever. "I've had time to get my body right, get my body
strong. "I'm still four or five weeks away from playing a
game but I believe I'll come back in better physical
    condition than I've ever been."

Lets enjoy the next four years and lets hope he captains at least two title winning teams in the next four years.

Hope he can adjust his game and play as long as Gary Mac.

I think he'll need to become a holding midfielder if he is to play at the top level in England for another 4 years.

Patrick Vieira, Paul Ince and Roy Keane are examples of Great Players who 'Covered Every Blade of Grass', hit 30/32 and found that there was just nothing left in the tank.

    Seriously doubt it.

he looked shattered by September last season. 2 years most at the level he was last season if indeed liverpool can afford to have him at that level. He certainly wont improve.

BTW, Drogba said exactly the same as Gerrard last season. Fittest hes ever been etc etc. Turned out to be bollocks.

shattered or tired? I'm not being funny but a 26/27 year old Gerrard would have looked tired and despondant by september because of what was going on at Liverpool

He will need to change his game to play for 4 more years but he's a good enough player to do this, has already played RW AMF CM and RB for us. He can adapt and just knows the game.

He looked shattered. Could be tiredness granted but he looked like that was the turning point in his career.

Not all players stay at the top til their mid 30s. Gerrard could well do that but for me, going off his latest season tells me he will retire in his early 30s or at least leave liverpool for a final payday somewhere in the US or similar. Dont forget for years hes completely run your team, hes done it for the most part with limited help.

Gerrard should probably try to reinvent his game and learn to be more disciplined of he wants to remain a top player.

Most Liverpool fans know this, Stevie has got 1 or 2 more years at CM before having to change the way he plays.

You think he will do it? I'm pretty doubtful that he will change his entire mentality given that is what has been his greatest strength for his entire career. All of his biggest achievements have been due to his single mindedness and making the team only about him, must be pretty hard to accept that he is not the main man anymore.

he is going to have to though... To be honest it wouldn't suprise me if this current bout of injury is his wake up call - it's has been for Liverpool supporters

You're right. The challenge for Stevie is to be more of a team player rather than the one-man band he's had to be in the past. Let's delay judgement 'til we see what happens.

As I said in an earlier post he's played RB, RW, CM and AMF think he has played LW aswell. He knows the game so changing his position or the way he plays won't be a problem.

Its not just changing where on the pitch he plays, he has to understand that 10 yard passes are preferable to hollywood balls most of the time. Can you see him doing that?
