Not a very good message it is sending across though: "Liverpool have £20m they are willing to spend on a average-to-good, mid league English player. So our talented CL caliber/ League winning experience/ World Class/ Super talented player must easily be £40m by their valuation. Let them start bidding at £50m. They have £60m to spend this summer? Let's take it all."
erm... but luiz just went for 40mil and mata for 37mil so..... surely CL caliber etc etc players as you say are in fact worth 40mil in any event. surely if we've 60mil we're looking for coutinho types who are the caliber if only they get a change. we don't want fully polished turds or fully cut diamonds we are fishing in the spetic tanks of clubs looking for rough cut diamonds. This is why i don't really know that sanchez or pedro would ever be real buys for us. We are looking for a shako wohos surplus or a coutinho who's unappreciated or a sturridge who thinks he's hard doen by. Now we are in CL sure we can attract a higher class but why should we really change tack? surely buying expenvely in the english league proved to be a great disaster with downing and the like so we wil be looking for more borini's who we can prob get at least 80% of the risk back on no matter what but could end up 20-30 mil players. Lets face it sturridge as of today with a WC to come is a 30mil player... no question. thats the market. If he scored another 20+ goals next year he's a 40mil player. Coutinho didn't have a great year but must be geting on to 15-18mil.... sterling is 25mil + You know... i think we are more likely to see can come than lallana of the current crop of rumours and i think seeing anyone in their prime arrive is highly unlikely.
ok ok nice guy whos a fanny falp then.. I still say he's just a good lfc fan you added the female genitalia not me.
My point was, we shouldn't be advertising huge fees readily available for players from clubs that don't need to sell. We shouldn't squander big fees on the 'English Tax' and shouldn't be trying to buy big name CL stars from teams that don't necessarily need nor want to sell because we will lose heavily either way. We need to quietly unearth hidden gems, or poach big talent from struggling clubs/leagues etc as you say. Lallana shouldn't be a smokescreen, it shouldn't be anything.
i know what you are saying for sure. but i think that the numbers bandied about are done so not by the club mostly but the club do like to give fans a gee up around about now to tide them over the summer. i never heard anyone say how much we had but words like significant resource and all that come out when rodgers talks and when people are talking about backing him
First up this morning and reports from Spanish daily Marca claim Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno and have made a firm offer of â¬20million plus Suso. ----- Hope the price mentioned is bullshit, that's a lot of money for a FB. Plus Suso could do a good job for us next season so I'd like us to keep him.
20m EUR is roughly £16m which is decent, especially considering that Luke Shaw is going for £27m. Moreno - young player, technical, quick but still raw. I think Rodgers can work wonders with him. Suso is talented but does he have the right mentality? That's the question on him at the moment plus his contract only has 1 year left.
i am a bit surprised we havent offered Alberto as well, if true he doesn't look like having much of a future here. so maybe more game time for Tex then which will be good to see.

Xherdan Shaqiri admits he may have to leave Bayern Munich in search of regular football and says a move to England 'would be an option'. 'England would be an option. If I were to leave Bayern, it will be for a foreign club. But it will have to be a club challenging for the title.' Could be a possibility
