Not sure if anyone else has started a thread on this, so apologies to the mods if that is the case. Since I saw Jude at Wembley on Saturday (did anyone tell you, we won), I've been convinced that we should name the new stadium 'St Judes'. It harks back to our roots and is unique. Any more ideas?
I'd like to carry something from Loftus Road, if possible, but the only way I can think of it makes us sound too much like Millwall....
It'll be the Air Asia Stadium, or possibly Mittal Steel....naming rights are worth too much for sentimentality, and its easier to do with a new stadium, as Mike Ashley has discovered in Newcastle. Ask Arsenal or City. Alas.
As I said a long while back, I reckon that it will officially be called The Air Asia Arena, but will be known more widely by fans as The Triple A. I think that The Triple A has got a nice ring to it, and I'm claiming dibs on the nickname.
Agree sb, but at the same time, if anyone asked me where Newcastle play, it's James Park...given though, the Arsenal and Man City ones have only ever been known by the sponsors names. So, can we have an over riding name for the stadium, 'St Jude's' or something else related to the clubs history, then have sponsors buy the commercial naming rights for a period of time?
I had that nickname months back! It will be sponsored as sponsoring a new stadium is the only way to get the name to stick. Eg the emirates against whatever crap name Newcastle have given their ground.
