Lets get serious.... Liverpool are nowhere near Man United. To say other wise is simply idiotic. You are in group containing 3 or 4 clubs ( City, Arsenal, Spurs & sometimes Everton ). Liverpool only improved under Dalglish because the players were an absolute disgrace in the first half of the season. they didnt put any effort in under Hodgeson whoch was summed up in the game v Blackburn where Gerrard missed a penalty. He just looked like he was not arsed at all. Hodgeson isnt a bad manager, hes not top class but he deserved a damn sight more respect than he got from the Liverpool players at that time. Dalglish brought a wave of nostalgia to the side, it remains to be seen if he can cut it in a full season. Hes been away a long time, the game has changed somewhat and the second half of last season where you season was over when he took charge do not mean very much. Win lose or draw he had zero pressure on him...except in europe where he is shocking. Dalglish setting his sights on Fergie will be the most one sided battle ever. Kenny needs to learn to walk before he can go toe to toe with the master. There was a time when Dalglish seemed to have the best of Fergie ( he had the best team in the land at the time, United were a midtable cup team building for the future )but that time was so long ago I fail to see what it has to do with the here and now. Fact is Fergie has caused the sacking or breakdown of more managers than he can remember. If Kenny dalglish is so scary.....why was nobody scared when he took over his last 2 clubs? just wondering like?
United19Red, you just said the phrase 'I fail to see what this has to do with the here and now' regarding a past time, then concluded by using Kenny's PAST managerial jobs to make a point about his current one. So I conclude that I fail to see what his last 2 clubs have to do with the here and now...
Now you may THINK that Liverpool is nowhere near United. That has yet to be proved in the new season. As for Dalgliesh going head to head with Ferguson in the Premiership then you will find that it's 1-0 to Kenny.
United19Red Your mind reading skills are very impressive. You seem to know that our poor start to the season was because the players had taken it into their heads that they weren't going to play for Hodgson. Is the concept of compatibility -or lack of it- beyond you? Woy is a decent guy and a capable manager in the right club. He was not right for LFC- now, how difficult can it be to understand this?
No disresepct intended here but........................ Short answer = no Long answer = not really Best of luck next season
Arsenal? Why are you worried about them? Think we'll nab the league and they'll knock you out of Champo league spots?
That will do us just fine. Whilst you are focusing on United, City and Chelsea, we believe that we can go about our business with the aim of a CL spot at the end of the season. However, if we are in the mix after christmas then watch out. Weare historically strong in the 2nd half of the season. Our worry for this coming season must be to turn the draws and defeats to 'lesser' clubs into victories. But I believe that we will adopt a strategy similar to the one we displayed at Fulham far more often.
I'll explain it in a way that UIR may understand. Supposing in 2 years time.Fergie retires and Man United cannot find anyone to replace him except Bryan Robson(Im only using this example as I couldn't find anyone else as poor).Man Uniteds tactics and formations and overall play is dreadful and they are in 12th in the league. The Man United owners sack him,and appoint Guus Hiddink and things improve. They finish the season in 5th,because his tactics and philosophy is far superior to Robsons.Guess why.Hiddink is a top class coach and Robson is a moron.Thats what happened with Liverpool. The previous owners appointed a mid-table manager with a mid-table atitude and replaced him with a top of the pile manager with a top of the pile atitude. Kenny knows how to beat Ferguson,He's done it,He also knows how to put the wind up him.Ferguson himself said, that if Kenny gets it right,He's in big trouble.
Yes it is possible you will do really well but at the moment you do not have the quality of the teams who finished above us. Your squad is better than Chelsea's at the moment but it looks like they are going to do a lot of investing this summer.
Did he or did he not manage the 2nd half of seasons against fergie in 97 & 2011 losing both times? 2-1
Hodgeson is better in europe. He is better than dalglish without money. Fergie isnt scared of Dalglish. He regards him as something he stood in. Compared to fergie in this day and age, Dalglish is nobody.
The first line , nowhere near a team we beat often. Yeah makes sense!! Nowhere near a team we have given royal thumpingsa to in the last few seasons, when they were actually better. if we don't win it I think we'll live, If united finish far from hte top, we know al the mancs will switch to the team that is winning, very simple aint it
I seem to remember they did. In fact it was much more of a hammering than Liverpool supposedly gave us. Everton had a better record than you did in the last 19 games but I don't remember you lot exactly being terrified of them last season. It's the same with us. A smaller club had a decent run? So what? Not going to make any difference to the title race. Maybe the Europa League race.
How the **** did you hit rock bottom you bellend? You had a team of millionaires worth well over £100m and you spent £40m in the summer before you finished 7th!
What do you mean losing? If you mean in terms of head to heads, 2011 matches is won one lost one. So he didn't lose both times. And if you're counting a 'win' as finishing above the other team in the table, how is that fair? Where were we when Dalglish took over, and where were you? Besides which, you've 'conveniently' forgotten the 1990 season...
How is your second point even related to your first question? We sold Xabi for 30 and signed Aquilani and Johsnon for a combined fee rising to 37. Where's the 40?
