I used the same word to sum up Peeters appointment. Underwhelmed. Some will say that it does not matter that he is ex Millwall. It does to me. This all smacks of Dowie/Steve Lomas again. I don't want an ex Spanner running us down the pan next season. The fact is that there were 1,000 better appointments that Bob Peeters. His CV says he did not get the job based on merit.

The Lomas situation is the one that sticks out for me. If we get off to a bad start then this will turn sour.

I'm afraid I have officially become a doom 'n' gloom merchant now. It's only a very short time ago that there was a fair bit of optimism, what with Harriott's hat-trick and the prospect of JR signing a long-term contract.

Hyperbole aside, it would be interesting to know what everyone thinks about exactly why Peeters got the job.

    - was it on merit, & his potential as a coach ?

    - is he a patsy, handpicked to carry out RD's bidding ?

    - will he be another Jose Riga, someone who quickly wises up to the inconsistencies of the Network idea (ie: that RD's players are crap..) and tells it as it is....losing his job quickly after.

i think it's because he's belgian. you could argue its mild xenophobia on the part of RD. nothing but belgians since day one - i have no problem with this if they're better, but most clearly aren't.

does anyone now think we'll finish 9th or higher?

My thoughts are that he will be relishing using a better standard of players from the Belgium league, and gushed about it to RD. In turn, RD will have taken on board Peeters ''knowledge of the English game'' and seen it as a positive move.

The next big landmark in our summer is the decision of Diego Poyet.

He has just Tweeted that it has been his "life long dream" to be coached by Bob Peeters.

I am hearing that it is Millwall legend Keith 'Rhino' Stevens.

He always gave TC the horn.
