Who do i want? I want for them to throw enough cash at jupp heynckes so he comes out of retirement. Who do i want that realistic? Yakin seems a good choice from what i've seen (admittedly not that much) but i want the board to avoid at all costs just wheeling out one of the old hands that seem to do the managerial rounds constantly......looking at you 'arry.
Exactly ^ I want somebody young, with fresh ideas and no reputation here. I don't want to see McClaren flexing his best Southern accent.
McLaren isn't too of my list as I'm very wary that he's not even and a whole season at derby. He's done well there but is that enough. I would say he is definitely a fresh ideas man and this m'a y be why it hasn't worked so well for hi at other clubs as players haven't understood his message. I think our players seem like they can embrace new ideas.
How many times has he been sacked though? From positions with less pressure than Southampton too. Hiring Pochettino was a gamble that paid off (I know ultimately this might not feel like that case now). It would be great to see somebody bring with them ideas and ideals that hadn't been seen before. I can already picture McClaren not working out.
I do agree with you and he isn't my choice. I was just pointing out that he is a fresh ideas coach and very progressive in his coaching. I have said before that I think he is one of those people who is a great coach but not a good manager; there can be a difference. If he did come, I'd give him a chance, but he would not be my choice. He'd be above the likes of Hughton, etc
That would test my resolve of "I support Saints and I buy my season ticket to see them as they are my team"
I'm imagining it now (shuts eyes, screws up face). It would almost be worth it, just to witness the spluttering outrage of the football purists.
Imagine the headline: Allardyce delighted to complete swap deal for Kevin Nolan as Lallana moves the other way
Yes, but I could offer odds of 66/1 that Putin would win the Nobel Prize for Peace. It just proves that a fool and his money are soon parted.
Mate, Henry Kissinger won that prize even as the napalm rained down all over Vietnam, and as US troops undertook an illegal incursion into Cambodia.
This is too much fun to stop. Maybe Allardyce was the sort of chap Krueger was referring to when he mentioned a manager of the right "calibre"?
I just want someone who will play attractive football. Managers like Pulis or even Allardyce can get you the result, but I want to avoid watching their brand of football.
