You are all making me :emoticon-0111-blush - blimey if Roo said something nice too I might <party>

The Mod job is not onerous but you do obviously need to have time to read most of the posts to stay up with what is being said and how - that is why someone especially for the evening / night shift would be great and a third to help overall is a sensible idea.

I have no doubts that already form some of the names being put forward we will continue onwards and upwards.

Boastfully I believe we ARE the best board on the site

OK - I am going to "stick" this thread for 3 or 4 days to give everyone a chance to see it and register their interest and then we can see where we have got to.

    Hi folks.....

Sorry work levels high these days.... and I do tend to play on the chess site to wind down in the breaks from shearing the sheep etc ;)

I am happy with any..... but suggest we now choose two people....

Leo.. tell us how much time a person needs to spend so whoever wants to do it can be realistic about it.

Greetings SLB :) :) :) game of chess??

You really do not have a set amount to do. What is the mod job? It is to make sure that really offensive posts are removed - we don't get any of those. It is to keep an eye on the posts that are there and try to steer them towards friendliness rather than hostility if you can . It is to respond to requests of any users - that can be a mixed bag - some of our posters ask for bits and pieces of info or advice and so do other moderators who are new - but is not frequent and usually quite pleasant. It is to suffer some people being occasionally very abusive - usually for no reason and is very rare on this site but other mods have complained about it. It is deciding whether or not to stick or close threads or other "housekeeping" thingummies. Finally it is to try to help this whole Site prosper by making it inviting and fun. No one gave me any of the above instructions - I just decided that was how I would do it. I guess if you really wanted to do a minimalist job it would be to prevent WUMs and stop illegal comments - racist, sexist and homophobic.

I spend a lot of time reading as many comments as I can as that way I feel I am in otuch with general sentiment. If we had more mods that load would be shared as I don't tend to be here late or overnight so in the morning have quite a bit of catch up (especially when Norway and Hornette get up to their shenannigans in their snug - although modesty prevents me prying there too much :) )

Don't be put off by workload but do only step up if you want to help make the site
    prosper.

More than anything it is to be as unlike a BBC mod as you can be :)

    Any use?

    Cheers

Sounds fair ,we have always tried to do the best for this board from the start of Ak`s dark nest! and my havent we gone a long way in a limited amount of time!
I always try to have a quick peek at tea breaks and lunch breaks!(thanks to the new mobile app!)and before I start work and when I get back!,So I guess I could cover a fair time span ,if you guys want me to , I read most of the posts anyway!

Sounds good to me if the oppertunity ever arose. Do you have to have an in depth knowledge of the inner workings of the site? If so that puts me out. But any excuse to read and be on here!

    Hi Norway!

I think we do need a couple of people who can be on most days... you could carve up threads between you.... which might help.
