....French forward Djibril Cisse will only join Lazio if a striker leaves the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Discussions have taken place with Panathinaikos regarding the former Liverpool player and it has been reported the Greek club want to reduce their wage bill.

Cisse is under contract until the summer of 2013, but he is reported to be one of the highest earners and Panathinaikos are willing to listen to offers.

Lazio are interested, however, they would only have room if the likes of rumoured Parma target Sergio Floccari were to leave Rome.

"He will only arrive if one of our strikers leaves," Lazio president Claudio Lotito told Corriere dello Sport.

"We have seven strikers in our team so he would be a replacement if one of them leaves."

Would love to see him back with us next season

Would be brilliant for half a season, but that really isn't enough, is it?

I posted yesterday that I'd take The Djib back in a flash.

Loved his character and swagger when here 2 years ago and I think he could be a direct replacement for Bent, as a pound for pound goal scorer. Good for 15 to 20 goals IMO.

I think 15-20's a bit optimistic, Cest and his "swagger" can grate in the changing room.

We could certainly use his pace to stretch the game away from our defence though.

I liked him but he won't come back, he wanted to stay but we let him go and hurt his ego.

Not too sure about him: he was always a little too selfish for my liking, and I just couldn't see him striling up a partnership with Gyan.

All players have good points and bad points and although some may not like the flash harry image, I met him at the Black Cats Bar on a meet the players evening and he was good fun. Loads of swagger and a huge personality.

He scored in both home and away derby games and fears nothing. These are the players that take you to the next stage. Not N'Gog?

PS - he scored 12 goals in his first season but faded along with the whole of the team for the second half of the campaign. KJ and him never hit it off but I reckon Gyan and him would be absolutely amazing up front.

I personally think he would be better than the likes of Ngog DJ cambell.

Hes the sort of player i would love. Established striker who has scored at every level. As mych as sturridge and welbeck exctie me as prospects imo they wouldnt buoy the mood of the club as much as a well established international striker. Sadly they are hard to come by....wouldnt mind artem mielvsky though

I liked him and thought that we were hasty getting rid of him. He was allegedly disruptive in the dressing room, but he had some star quality about his which we really lack. He would make a big difference. Yes, he was ball greedy at times but he knew where the net was.

I'd like him back, but as has been said, would he come?

    Also, how much?

I think he'd come, he loved it here, there was just an (alleged) clash of personality with Jones, who was our player.

He made things happen, admittedly not always good, and he scored in both games against the Mags, and the Cisse song was WORLD CLASS.

Don't rate Cisse. His game is super limited. That being said, if it were between Cisse and N'Gog, i'm sure everyone would choose Cisse. Can't believe how many articles there's been about Djibril Cisse mind, it's never going to happen. Big wages for a player not worth those wages and he has no resale value.
