In my view, anyone who leaves automatically becomes $hit overnight. Thanks Poch for no cup runs, and next please !

I am certainly not going to thank him but I will wish him luck as he is going to need bucket loads of it! Let's not forget that when Poch arrived his group of players were all united and willing to play for each other due to Adkins ensuring this during his tenure. We know that Spuds are nowhere near united at the moment and I think Poch will have his work cut out trying to ensure they are. Also trying to pick a starting 4 or 5 out of what seems like 15 Spuds midfielders will be entertaining. Sandro and Adebayor will keep him busy and Kyle Walker will have him pulling his hair out with his attempts at defending......

That scene of Sherwood saluting Adebayor after he scored makes me cringe. I wish Poch no ill, but there are a few wasters there he needs to move on, and yes he won`t be inheriting a similar young and hungry squad, assembled the `right way`.

    They can't afford him.

    Lallana to Spurs: £70m
Lallana to any one else: £30m

If Pochettino signs Lallana, I'm going to be absolutely furious. Luckily I don't think it'll happen. I've just about come to terms with him leaving, but him leaving us for Spurs will be a different level of gutting.

Lallana wants Champions League Football and I genuinely think he wouldn't do that to us. At the end of the day Liverpool are interested in him, they have CL football AND they have a proven manager. Oh and they also have stability.......

As if people are genuinely angry at him for moving. We have no problem in sacking a manager or selling a player if they're underperforming so why should he feel any loyalty?

Logic has no place on a football forum.

Don't think Lallana would do it, when he could leave to go to a better side with less bitterness from Saints fans.

Also don't think MP would try it, considering he already has several highly rated midfielders. I would think his task is to get more out of them rather than spending more money on another one. Plus he has to know that Saints will ask for much more from Tottenham than they would any other club, just because the PR hit would be so much worse.

I'm sure MP and Tottenham don't mind that story getting out though, just to try and unsettle everyone more. It's an obvious leap for a lazy journalist but wouldn't be surprised if someone from Spuds fed them a tidbit.

Eriksen is a similar level as Adam, so I can't see that they'd need him.

MMJ, I'm not really angry at MP, more at saints for allowing him to leave, and the manner it was handled.

Weren't there pictures of Poch and Lallana having dinner together this weekend? It's possible they just talked about the weather but I doubt it.

Not that that necessarily means Spurs are after Lallana.

Totally agree, all this stuff from Poch about he didn't have to commit because he had 1 year left on his contract. Plus all the stuff from Les Reed about all the discussion with Poch about purchases for next season and all the plans. Seems a bit hollow now !

We didn't let him leave. He resigned paying the release clause in his contract. In no form did we let him leave it was his choice. I'm not angry he has gone, he could just have handled it far better.

I like this article as it hints at Yakin and dismisses McClaren

In which case why has the club not said that? Or at least leaked that to the press?

Other clubs leak all sorts of stuff to make their position look stronger, and yet our club continues to look pathetic.

If he underperformed, then he didn't live up to his contract.

But in this case, Saints lived up to their end of the bargain. He was given a great squad of players and what I felt was adequate transfer fees. As I said on another thread the biggest transfer waste and that had a hand in preventing us maybe from spending like MP wanted was the Osvaldo move, which I think he probably had some hand in.

I think if it had been some ginormous club that came calling, people would understand. Or if he'd given it another year and Saints failed to progress. Or even if he'd publicly complained about lack of support from the Board people would have likely been behind him. Or if he'd said after NC left that he would finish this season but would in all likelihood leave. Or heck, even if he'd just held out a little longer.

But the way he talked about how it was no big deal that he hadn't signed a contract and he'd wait to meet with the club and then basically had his head turned the second Tottenham fired Sherwood leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I get the feeling he would have been there last week except it was Tottenham that wasn't committed. I don't think he really gave the Board a fair chance. I also think he handled everything in a way the best way to maximize his chances of obtaining and transitioning into the Tottenham job even though some of those things hurt Saints.

I felt similarly to when Cortese fired Adkins. I get that its a business and a dog-eat-dog world, etc. so I see the logic behind why NC did what he did and to a lesser degree what MP left. But they really could have handled it better and just done a few small things that really wouldn't have cost them anything but might have been nice for us. They deliberately couldn't be arsed, so **** 'em.
