We tried to sign pratley and others to extension last year, so over a year left on contract , so within in what you said, thing is if they don't want sign it , it is up to them dont forget that pratley and britton were refused by the chairman to extend their contracts when they wanted to discuss them. i dont care what anyone says we as a club made a right mess of things that have cost us big time. the club should have discussed at least with the players even if a deal could not be done. pratts was up front and said he wont sign another contract for the way he has been treated and the same can be said for a number of our players like dorus and britton. i know britton came back but we had to pay for the privilege of him returning, iv never known something so stupid in my life...
Nobody really knows the ins & outs of Pratley's contract talks . Just because Darren says something about his contract talks , doesn't make it totally true .
If you've never experienced something that stupid before you've led a charmed life. The club dictates when we talk about contracts, not the players, and damn right too.
thank god for players like Tate, he can be our standby goalkeeper as he still does goal keeping training. sir Alex would not have signed him if he never showed potential, he also turned him into a defender while he was at united while still using him as a goalkeeper when needed......lol
The club dictates when we talk about contracts, not the players, and damn right too. yes and it has cost us millions..
Players leaving for free is the price you pay for actually sticking to contracts. Most top clubs will sign a player on a 4-year knowing it really means 2-2.5 before the next pay rise if things work out. Unfortunately this always ends up costing them more and you have to look at the reality of it. If we had signed up Dorus, Rangel, Britton and Pratley to longer better deals 2 years back would we have been able to afford to bring in Dyer or Sinclair? Maybe, maybe not. In the end we have a finite barrel of cash (or certainly did before this year) and sometimes it's a direct choice a transfer/loan fee for a new player or a new contract for an existing one. That said of all the leavers Rangel is the one I'm least worried about in one sense, he's themost likely to make the grade but also the most easy to replace. I'd certainly back Tate to play RB and do a decent job sooner than LB or CB.
Errr... No it hasn't. Rangel wanted to go to Fulham. The most they'd have been paying... MAXIMUM would be 2mil. Pratters wanted to go to Forest, again, max 2mil I reckon. De Vries I'm unaware that we had any offers for. Ergo, our maximum income from transfers for those players would be 4mil. If we'd have signed them to longer contracts then the selling value is irrelevant, because clubs might not have even come in for them with 2 or 3 years left to run! So instead, we told them to shut up and concentrate on football, and the upshot is we landed a 90mil payday and a shot at the biggest league in the world. Seems fairly good business sense to me. It's not going to be easy to replace people, but we will. Have faith.
Well said Scott. They helped us to the promised land, much better than selling last year for £4million.
Well it seems we have a limit to stick to regarding player wages, and it's in the long term interest of the club to keep that policy, it does however mean that the mercenaries at the club will move on, as have Bessone, Pratley, de Vries, Taylor, they are not exactly Ronaldo or Messi, our best players are still with us, so lets see what the summer brings, more sunshine too I hope!................. please log in to view this image
I just wish they wouldn't mess the club about staying or going, I just wish they were honest with the club and fans. If they had just said "Thank you for the opportunity to further my career all the best for the future" then I would bid them a fond farewell and a thank you for there service. With all the departed or on the verge of going I'm not that disappointed to be honest, if a Dyer or Allen was to go then that would be a different case.
Before the Prem probably about 7 or 8k a week I´d imagine? I could be out a little bit but around that mark.
