I've said on another thread that the fans who hate us, especially Norwich, partially do so because they are jealous we have TF. Delia or Tony? No brainer! However, in the interest of fair play, TF on JB's shoulders was almost as bad as 'Let's be 'avin you'!!
Loads of people today (including one Chelsea fan) have said what a great sight it was to see him celebrating like he did.
Good! Might have been different had he fallen off and landed on his arse with his legs akimbo which he very nearly did!!
'In March, the club posted a staggering £65.4million loss for the year ending May 2013. Under the rules, clubs are only entitled to make an £8million loss per season' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-134m-Premier-League-place.html#ixzz32vhayGCH Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook When i last looked at the calendar, in May 2013, we were still a PL side (albeit in name only, the body and mind had long gone)? So surely that have to wait for our accounts to be published for THIS season before they can start talking about sanctions? How can we be punished for something that hasn't been submitted? Is this another case of journo's enjoying fanning flames? This is even before we get to the technical nitty gritty of if FFP is even enforceable. Why haven't Bolton being taken to the cleaners for their horrific accounts yet?
FFP is supposed to kick in for the current season's accounts, which have to be sent to the FL by the end of the year. So if there is a fine we won't know what it is until next year. Tone seems to be basing his argument on saying that its impossible for a team which was spending to compete in the prem to turn its playing staff round and cut its wage bill in a single season, and that he's for FFP in principle. In other words relegated clubs should be given a couple of seasons at least to balance the books. I'm afraid this is pretty weedy, the answer is simply relegation clauses in players contracts which we obviously forgot to do. But I'm still confident he'll see this off, or at least reduce it to manageable proportions, with aplomb.
SB_73 - Fair do's - what is annoying me is that the press are talking about the accounts, and therefore the size of the fine, as if they are the accounts that are under scrutiny - which they aren't. I am sure that we will be incurring heavy losses, but let's wait and see what they actual figures are as a lot of change occurred in the close season.
Absolutely. We cut out a lot (but far from all) of our stupid wage costs, but unfortunately our income also plummeted, missing out on the PL TV cash. This year's accounts will be pretty ugly again, I fear.
I said to my family on the way home that we should buy shares in all of TF's companies. He seems to have a Midas touch - apart from Caterham!
Presumably FFP did not apply three seasons ago when we gave ridiculous contracts without relegation clauses to the SWP's, Bosingwa's etc, and this will form part of our defence
Of course, we aren't allowed to dump those contracts so its an impossibility to comply unless we break the law by sacking them. The only way it could work is if everyone had to have a 50% wage cut for relegation.
