What I'm trying to work out though is Kaboul's status: he's listed as retained on the Premier League site, which would mean that we agreed to extend his contract. However, you'd think the club would've mentioned this, given the rumours from a few weeks back of him leaving at the end of the season.

He might actually know what's going on with our managerial appointment and approve of who's coming in or he might just be saying the right things and considering a move anyway. Wouldn't read too much into it.
I always thought we were just projecting that onto him, it seemed just as likely to me that his body language and facial expressions were of someone angry with himself for the mistakes he was making.

So how are we going to spend the €8m CL-winning clause in Bale's contract? Or is that going to cover the compensation for Pochettino, his backroom staff, and his translator?

Reports said we'd have to stump up and extra £4m to bring in Pochettino's coaching staff, which is his assistant, first-team coach, goalkeeping coach and technical support coach. If that means Freund and Ferdinand are out the door, that'll be money well spent. Hopefully Ramsey stays with the academy - although it'd be a shame if Tony Parks got the chop.
