I was at that one mate sure it was a penalty at our end as well we went ballistic remember walking through a building site just to get to Anfield apparently they are still building there as the scousers keep nicking everything not nailed down even the nails.

yes, I remember it very well.

Every time since, when we played at Anfield I would say we did it then, why not now?

Night match at Roker Park.Wehad to win.Clown Brown ? or another idiot manager played defensive line up. Liverpool a great team.Paisley an absolute star.If only we'd had him.
Peter Thompson a great winger got away miles clear towards the Roker end-then ran in a big circle to let our defenders catch up,then leaned back and blasted ball 10 yards over the top.If anyone was under orders it had to be PT-SUMMED UP WHAT WAS GOING ON.
As it was obvious SAFC would never score Lpl did in last few minutes.Nobody blamed Bob P HE COULDN'T HELP THOSE who would not be helped. Some things stick in your memory.

Cecil Irwin was the finest exponent of the sliding tackle I have ever seen, he could start a tackle about 6 yards away from the winger and take the ball cleanly, then again the wingers didn't dive in those days but it was incedible to watch, happy days indeed.

Aye and those were the days both would shoulder charge most times both would stay on there feet the stronger one took the ball.
Some players now when they go down after being literally brushed against make me cringe!

I was never a fan of Cec Irwin - perhaps I just got in too late? Was he really any good?

Wasn't there an FA Cup Final where a player shoulder barged a (at that time) legit goal?

****ing ****y ****tas you get now, that Wayne Rooney deserves nothing better than a jolly good thrashing!

12th October 1968 - home to Forest, and Cec scored from more or less the halfway line in a 3 - 1 win. I think it was his only ever goal. The gale caught hold of the ball and it never stopped. Class - still laugh now thinking about the look on everyone's faces. To be honest, bonny, he'd never get into my all-time greats team!

I vaguely remember a game where the opponents had a corner and I'm sure he kicked it onto his own post 2 or 3 times before clearing it?

Or was it all a dream?
