We had not bussed in a load of uninterested Home Counties Supporters We had properly backed Curbs We had not appointed Dowie, Reed, Pardew, Parky, Powell, We had given the Murray the boot We had treated properly and appreciated the efforts of Slater, and Jiminez We were treated like a back of the fridge Friday nite fry up for some Belgium Frankenstein and his bit on the side We did not listen to the lunatic ravings of fat middle aged underachievers who formed the supporters trust We were in a position to appoint British players and staff and not some knocked off foreign rubbish We could support OUR club in any fashion we chose without having to pay a fiver to give the aforementioned fat middle aged underachievers the opportunity to mess up any relationship the board has with the fans. VOTE: United Charlton Independent Party- Giving the majority a say (and not the few that think Dunlop trainers are in fashion).
For me it is now vital that the Club keeps its identity and does not get subsumed into a messy Euro blancmange, where players and 'head coaches' become interchangeable depending on which side of the bed the owner gets out of. Will my kids look back in 30 years and say "wasn't it great that we saw Davide Petrucci and Anil Koc play at the Valley" ? Based on my own straw poll in recent weeks we really are in danger of becoming a laughing stock, with the product on offer as indigestible as a week old Belgian bun.
I have always said we are the English franchise of a Lidl. We are getting the muck that even the Belgium's don't want. This is about Douchebags ego and not about football. He is looking to enhance his CV. If he can turn over a struggling side into a successful PL team his stock in the European markets will rocket. He can say he can turn his hand to anything. If it fails it wont costs him a lot in truth, he is spending less than an student in a wine bar as it is, and if the experiment goes wrong and we slide down the leagues he will get rid, and what will it cost him? a few million and offset a tax write up. dark days ahead I fear....
Rebuilding the East Stand. Filling it with glutinous, Kagool- clad, Bovril guzzling complacent duffers. Allowing them to form CAST & G21.
Murray would have had to find further investment, or a takeover to have properly backed Curbs, or any manager... As far as I'm aware the only time he decided to do this was once the boat had sunk, thereby indicating that his ego was running away from him at the time... I don't believe in any of these fan groups... I'm happy to be in a group of one, wanting to get somewhere near strategies that have historically proved successful... Keeping & signing good players would go a long way towards showing we haven't lost all sense of ambition...
What really annoys me, is that this club made such stupid school boy errors that are akin to swapping Mayfair for the Old Kent Road and nobody did a thing. Nobody formed formed a trust then or tried to deter season ticket sales or formed the laughable dads army - G21 or even threw a Dunlop on the pitch . We are stuffed now. And every hack, every cheap TV pundit and every fan in the country says what we all knew at the time don't employ Dowie out of spite. Simon Jordan must be laughing his orange balls off.
No, because they're mate was in charge then, and keeping on his right side was all important ... "The club comes first".... Not for a some of our sad sack fans it doesn't...
I once had the misfortune to be standing roadside eating a pre match spam fritter when a Valley Express coach pulled curb side & proceeded to offload its inmates. It resembled a coach load on day release from Rampton.
