    unscientific sample, but my lasting impression of him was that game where he put zaha to absolute shame with his effort levels. if we've not got bigger fish to fry, definitely worth a punt and a chance to impress to give us some pace until rodriguez is back.

    Just a swap? Surely Marquinhos is worth more than Alves, especially with with Barca's CB problems.

    Not true...we are a good EPL club. We'd never be able to sign the 30-40 mill players with or without Mauricio, but we will still have a pick of talented players. However, we need our new manager in as soon as possible. I know MP hasn't gone yet, but do we want him hanging about blocking the seat up and then leaving in a month.

    I can see why Arsenal might. How much is a good goalkeeper worth? A selling club would set the price high, especially if Arsenal came calling. We know how much we've missed having another good keeper. Would I want Saints to pay 15 mill? Different question...it would be a large chunk of our likely transfer budget, but how many points does a good goalie earn you? I would like us to be in the position to pay that...a sitting on the fence answer.

    That report suggests he will basically be a backup keeper. No chance Arsenal will spend £15m on a backup keeper.
