I was under the impression that the main thing most of us give a toss about regarding Carroll is that he was interviewed many times saying he understood the No.9 shirt and had no intentions of leaving Newcastle, shortly before he decided to leave.

But yeah, let's not turn this into another Carroll discussion, the point is neither Nzogbia or Pardew appear to have been quoted on the 60k wage demands so nothing can be really known or trusted there.

we've already got too many midfielders as it is, why buy another one? as well as hindering the progress of the likes of vuckic and ferguson, still a good player though

  7. I never said that i was backing it up with those sources. I read a while back that his wage demands were 55/60k a week, but i can't find exactly the source i read it in, but it was a one quite a bit more reliable than those i've put in my comment above, like the telegraph/chronicle.

I'm not saying i believe it like the gospel truth but it wouldn't surprise me, given his history of being a ****.

As i said i wont be too disappointed if we didn't get him,

Pardew said it. And Carroll's hardly going to come out himself and say "I left because I'm a greedy, longhaired, mercenary streak of ****, who'll turn my back on everything I've ever believed for a piece of Argos jewellery" is he? He got a £52k per week payrise, it doesn't take a genius to work out what he left for.

  9. I don't care if Pardew said it, Pardew still has to show me that he isn't just Ashley's bottom bitch.

I don't hate Carroll or love him and normally don't comment on the subject.

Anyway, i've taken the conversation totally away from the point, apologies. Back to crying french ****er... i mean N'zogbia.

Not yet, it's all been quite quiet on that end recently. Think we're definitely out of the race and to be honest, I wouldn't want us to buy a player who in reality would rather be some where else.

I wouldnt want us to go for N'zog though, it's a lot of money for a player we dont need. If we lose Jonas I'd try and get him, but not a necessity, we should be looking at strikers.

Zog is surely an improvement on Jonas though, he has the skill and pace that Jonas has but he has a more consistent end product. Plus, we have 35mil to spend pf which we've spent nowt, I reckon 9mil for Zog is a good deal considering today's market.

    I'd take N'Zogbia, but not for 60k a week. It's a bit excessive. He's a good player though and defiantly worth the 9M <ok>

  16. There have been reports that Wigan now want 12/15m. We don't know the exact amount he'd cost a club.

And was this talk of 60k regarding how much he wanted at Wigan? or anywhere? Because I do think a player's value is partially determined by where they play. In his case, he means more to Wigan than he would to say...Arsenal. Now of course the bigger clubs inherently pay players more, but rationally, his importance to the Wigan squad and keeping them up is worth much more. I know that's not how the football business really works, but still, it's an interesting way of looking at it.

Fact is: I'd need some $$$ incentives to stay at Wigan despite their undying fan support...uhhh

lets stop pissing about and sign him up, if we don't we'll regret it ! he's maturign and his game has come on a lot! he consistently troubles PL defences which is something we desperately need imo, even if we do have a few midfielders - we need options !

Good to have a line-up headache for once! A strong bench will be a first at Newcastle next season, remember the injury plagues we've had to put up with....

I can't see ANYTHING hindering Shane Ferguson's progress in the future, the kid is heading straight to the top ;)
