I certainly feel Lewis lost it completely this weekend regarding the mental side of things, he overreacted with what happened in qualifying and should of remembered that on pure pace he has been quicker than Rosberg this year and just taken this weekend on the chin knowing that his form has still been good. Now with the comments he has made he has created pressure on himself that is not needed in a championship battle.

Don't agree with much of that. He does seem a very up and down character, and someone who lacks confidence. It's in his nature to be less confident (arrogant?) than Alonso for instance, who is protected by his large ego. If he comes across as arrogant, I actually think it's compensating for insecurity. This year he has managed that a hell of a lot better and in doing so has shown what a force he is when his head is together. I did say a while back I was concerned at what would happen if things did start to go not his way, if that could change around and I'm a bit worried about how quickly it's crumbled. But it's Canada next, he's always good there, time to get things back on track.

Frustrating for him is that failure in Aus, at the time I think we all assumed there would be failures everywhere but at the moment there's just been the one for the Merc team and it has distorted the title battle.

Hopefully Lauda will bang their heads together and put a stop to it. The behavior of both of em is ridiculous. All this 'he did this, he did that' is just annoying. If you've got something to say, then do it on the race track.

As for Hamilton this weekend... He needs to take a serious look at himself and sort himself out before he starts hemorrhaging support both from his fans and his team.

He's got everything to lose at Montreal, Rosberg will know he's better there and will probably give it everything but it's Hamilton who has all the pressure on him. We just saw that when under pressure for the first time this year (in equal settings) he loses it mentally.

The problem is that the next race is Canada, the one track where Hamilton can destroy anyone on. Without a car failure in theory he'll cruise to victory and this will only serve to paper over the cracks. This big fallout isn't a major issue if they get over it quickly, have the big fight and then make up and get over themselves.

If Hamilton was clever he could have come out of this weekend strongly, played the down and out card, Rosberg cheated to beat poor little Hamilton. He would have won some support as the tradition plucky brit. Instead he's just come out looking like a spoilt brat.

Take the higher ground and watch the other person tumble when the pressure gets all to much for them.

the main thing he seems to lack is satisfaction, i don't know what he wants from F1 (not entirely sure he does either), but he seems to have some ridiculous fairy tale obsession that every race has to make him look like the perfect driver, hence why he keeps having these bonkers outbursts when there's even the slightest thing that threatens it, like everyone has to know if he's not 100% happy with the car, or if there's anything he thinks might have an impact on his performance relative to his team mate.

I think he'd have come off better by just playing down the whole incident and not even really addressing it. It's Monaco, it happens sometimes... The stewards looked at it, nothing they could do about it, so move on.

One wonders how the board would've reacted if Vettel had ever acted half as badly as that. A guy who tried to cheat by lying to stewards accusing others of being unfair, and his bad eye, that showed no sign of puffiness or redness at all ten minutes later. The usual 'feel sorry for me' BS

Pretty sure he'd get the same stick that Hamilton is getting right now.

Some things really make me laugh as they are so amazing.. I read a few people here criticizing Hamilton and yes I agree with some of the things some said.. I think Sgt and StoneRosesRam made good points in that Hamilton should have just taken the high road with regards to what he thought that Rosberg did or didnt do. But there are other who make some statements like the one who said.."Hamilton is a petulant little bitch when he doesn't win" and other stuff... Doesnt it seems a little odd when that same persons and some others like him behave in a worse manner whenever Hamilton wins a race, or for just competing in a race?..in fact they behave like that all the time. I think they are the wrong people to go about judging. Just my opinion.

We get that you don't like Hamilton... You remind us of it at every given opportunity. But when you then try and use that to make out that Vettel is somehow victimized around here is just bloody ridiculous.

ha, that's **** and you know it, all I see are a bunch of apologists trying to pretend it's some sort of one off out-burst, rather than something that happens over and over again. Most of you are too wrapped up in a flag to look past it.

For me Lewis has appeared to believe in this Devine right to win from the beginning, regardless of the car or competition. His utter belief is admirable and distasteful at the same time, and whilst very few could argue his talent, very few could condone his overall persona. Regardless of the right and wrongs (which are all perceptions) some things should stay behind closed doors, something that Lewis has either been unable or unwilling to do. He talks about fairness and equality in a sport that offers neither, he is in denial to his own detriment. Anyway, what gets me the most (and I find cringe worthy ) is the never ending return to his default religion - Senna - as if he is living his life by some fictitious code of conduct?

He thinks he's Ayrton Senna, but he's clearly not. Until he gets that into his head, he'll keep this stupid attitude.

Unfortunately he appears to be deadly serious, or is just now degraded himself to trolling the boards as all he does now himself is whine, moan and insult like a petty little brat.. Much like the person he so likes to kick off about on here.

I reckon if they met each other in person they'd get on brilliantly.

I said a bit earlier on here that he'd be better off comparing himself to Mansell.

They have very similar character traits, both good and bad.

All I can do is criticize him. What else do you want me to do? Burn effigies?

And stop with the 'Poor Vettel' bull****. I don't know what's wrong with some of his fans. He's not victimized on here, he's not the target of abuse, its all dreamed up. And "Hamelots" get accused of being on another planet.

I don't think he thinks he's him... He wants to be him though.

In reality though, Senna was as flawed as the next driver in his day. It's all just looked back on romantically these days.

What was the coverage / commentary like over there (of Rosberg's 'mishap' in qualifying, and the ensuing tension)?

I'm living in New Zealand, and F1 doesn't really register on people's radar. And reading Auntie Beeb's 'analysis/commentary' is demoralising.

Did German media / people comment on the situation? Any quotes from people other than Hamilton or Lauda?

I'm interested to hear how other nations assess the spat (if they care :) ).
